Warp Gate (ワープゲート Wāpu Gēto?) was the Quirk used by Kurogiri.
Description[]
Using this Quirk, the user can create and manipulate a dark fog that acts as a portal.
When the user produces a mass of the dark fog, it transports anything it comes in contact with to a nearby location. Kurogiri can even shroud himself with the black mist to hide his true body and personally transport anything out of himself. Should a Warp Gate close while someone is stuck halfway through, the person will be cut in half.
Warp Gate is an artificial Quirk, created from a fusion of several different Quirks with Cloud acting as the base Quirk.[1]
Warp Gate's mist is predominantly purple and black, with it making up most of Kurogiri's body.[2] However, when his personality as Oboro Shirakumo resurfaced, the Warp Gate portals had streaks of light blue mixed in from Oboro's Cloud.[3]
Weaknesses[]
Its main weakness is that Kurogiri cannot generate his fog around his covered up neck area, which serves as his weak point, allowing foes the opportunity to hit or immobilize said part, and by proxy, Kurogiri himself.
Another weakness is that portals created are coordinate-based (unlike Warping) and thus to open them, the user must be able to pinpoint the exact position where they wish for each portal to open up into, but can open them based on sight and usually only needs coordinates to open up in areas they cannot see. Due to this, the user cannot search for missing comrades if they do not know their exact location.
Overusing the Quirk can also put a burden on Kurogiri's body. After going against his Nomu programming to help the Heroes regroup, his body began to give out from warping them all to Mt. Fuji, with him only being able to summon one last portal in a final effort to protect Tomura Shigaraki. This attempt was thwarted by Katsuki Bakugo, who exploded the portal and subsequently killed him.
Usage[]
Kurogiri showcased the incredible usefulness and range of the Quirk, acting as the League of Villains' primary source of transportation. Using it they were able to effortlessly break into the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, travel to and from places like Hosu City and The Beast's Forest in an instant, and allow for clean getaways from capture like during the Kamino Incident. The Quirk was a tremendous asset to the League that they were greatly hindered once Kurogiri was captured by the Police Force, and could only rely on the far weaker Warping Quirk, courtesy of Kyudai Garaki via one of his Nomus; Johnny.
The Heroes were able to take advantage of Warp Gate thanks to Neito Monoma using his Copy Quirk on Kurogiri during the Final War. The Quirk proved instrumental in the battle against the Villains, not only to catch All For One off guard by teleporting the Heroes onto the battlefield, but also to use the Warp Gates to separate the Villains and send them to locations all over Japan to fight.
