Tsuyu's Froggy Family

Tsuyu's Froggy Family!

Tsuyu has a good relationship with her family, especially with her younger siblings, Samidare and Satsuki. Due to their parents, Ganma and Beru, often working away from home, Tsuyu is responsible for taking care of them by herself, doing things such as making them dinner.

Even after her move into the Heights Alliance Dorm, she is still in contact with her family.

U.A. High School[]

Class 1-A[]

Tsuyu has maintained and formed relationships with her classmates, especially with Izuku, Tenya, Ochaco, Shoto, Eijiro and Momo as seen following the dorm presentation contest when elaborating on her feelings upon their mission to save Katsuki Bakugo in the Hideout Raid Arc. This also shows Tsuyu's honesty and willingness towards her friendships, wanting to ensure that she can dissolve all tension surrounding her in order to maintain having fun with her friends.

Izuku Midoriya[]

Episode 10

Tsuyu and Deku ready to fight villains

Both of them are on very friendly terms. Tsuyu respects Izuku for his heroic actions as well as his victory against Katsuki.

In their first meeting, she had noticed the similarities of his powers and All Might's but is given a vague answer by him.

During the U.S.J. Incident, she saved him from being attacked by villains and was receptive of Izuku's plan to subdue the swimming villains, showing not only respect, but also trust. In return, Izuku was quick to try and save her from Tomura Shigaraki who nearly killed her but Shota Aizawa and All Might saved them.

In U.A. Sports Festival Arc, Tsuyu went to see how Izuku was doing after his battle with Shoto.[1]

Interestingly, Tsuyu repeatedly tells Izuku to call her "Tsuyu" rather early on in their knowing of each other. He appeared to be the first person she was fine calling her by her first name, repeatedly reminding him to call her that every time he forgets or automatically calls her by her surname out of politeness. Considering Tsuyu has gone on to say she only wants people she views, or wants to be a friend to call her that, it is clear that Tsuyu views Izuku as such. While Izuku seems to call her "Asui" more often than not, due to his polite personality, he has called her Tsuyu on occasion, and has shown concern for her, meaning he views Tsuyu in the same light.

When Tsuyu broke down crying after apologizing to everyone for questioning the plan to rescue Katsuki, Izuku felt bad for putting her through the pain and they reconcile.[2]

Izuku trusts Tsuyu enough that he comes to her along with Ochaco and Hanta to helped him on his Blackwhip training. His respect for Tsuyu would be profounding enough to create his new Froppy Style technique with his Blackwhip during the fight against Tomura based on her fighting style as a frog. In return, Tsuyu cares for Izuku after he left U.A. for her safety, going as far as to come go after him and bring him back to U.A., refusing him to "cry alone."

Ochaco Uraraka[]

Ochaco & Tsuyu vs Himiko

Tsuyu protects Ochaco

Ochaco and Tsuyu are close friends, as they are on a first-name basis with each other. Tsuyu lets Ochako call her "Tsu", a nickname that only allows her close friends to call her. They care and protect when the other is in danger.

Tsuyu detected Ochaco's mood swings as shown when she returned from her internship with Gunhead, saying that Ochaco had developed a new sense of battle and noticed when Ochaco was distracted while they were with the other girls. Ochaco noticed Tsuyu's sadness for hesitating to save Katsuki and tried to comfort and reassure her, hugging her when she started crying. Tsuyu also comforts and reassures Ochaco as when they were on the Forest Training Camp, offering to hold her hand so that he does not fear (which Ochaco accepts) and they protected each other in their battle against Himiko Toga⁚ Tsuyu prioritizing the safety of Ochaco and she running to save her.[3]

Later they both do their Hero Work-Studies together at the Ryukyu agency, where they prove to have excellent teamwork to the point that they have created a Ultimate Move by combining their respective Quirks: Meteor Fafrotskies, and fought alongside Nejire and Ryukyu against Rikiya Katsukame.[4] In the Joint Training Arc, Ochao was cheering for Tsuyu when he saw her fight against the Class 1-B team and when the internships returned, the Ryukyu agency has to do a mission with the Oki Mariner Crew and after the airplane that Ochaco had got on to stop some Trigger dealers was about to crash into the sea, Tsuyu worriedly yells at Ochaco that get out of the airplane. They also worked together saving civilians during the Paranormal Liberation War, Ochaco saved Tsuyu from the rubble of a building and Tsuyu went to help Ochaco against Himiko before she got hurt.

Tenya Ida[]

As aforementioned, Tsuyu formed a close friendship with Tenya. They both hang out together with Izuku and Ochaco; more often than not, they sit at the same lunch table together. Tsuyu was concerned for Tenya's well-being during Katsuki's kidnapping, and tearfully apologized to him for doubting his plan to save Tenya. Tenya returns the affection, promising to never worry Tsuyu again.

Minoru Mineta[]

Tsuyu Asui slaps Minoru Mineta

Tsuyu hits Minoru for his inappropriate comments.

Tsuyu is frequently seen together with Minoru, although she constantly punishes him for his perverted behavior or insensitive comments. Tsuyu often scolds him by hitting Minoru with her tongue.

However, the two seem to be on friendly terms, likely having an on-and-off friendship, to a degree as she rescued him from villains in the U.S.J. Arc and was impressed with his quick thinking. They also paired up together during the sports festival showing they work well together despite their conflicting personalities.

Fumikage Tokoyami[]

Fumikage and Tsuyu

Tsuyu and Fumikage paired together for finals.

Although their interactions in the classroom have been minimal, Tsuyu has been paired with Fumikage a number of times. They worked together during the battle trial and the practical section of their final exams.

Tsuyu and Fumikage agreed to strategize prior to their practical exam, showing they had strong communication with one another. During their test against Ectoplasm, Fumikage and Tsuyu displayed elite synergy and teamwork. Their Quirks work very well together in both evasive and combat situations. Tsuyu provided support while Fumikage did the bulk of the fighting. Although they were overwhelmed by Ectoplasm, Tsuyu believed they would be fine because Fumikage is strong. Together they managed to pass their finals.

Mina Ashido[]

The two girls are friends, as they are often seen talking to each other; they are also on a first-name basis, further reinforcing their friendship. Tsuyu congratulated Mina on advancing to the tournament at the Sports Festival, even though she was angry at her own failure, cheering her on enthusiastically from the stands when he saw her fight and is happy that she wins.

Mina was surprised by Tsuyu's field training with the Oki Mariner Crew and called her time there cool. Despite not being able to go to I-Island, Mina had fun being with Tsuyu and talked animatedly with her and Toru. When Tsuyu participates in the raid against Shie Hassaikai, Mina is concerned for her and was thrilled and relieved when Tsuyu and the other students involved safely returned to the Academy.

Shoto Todoroki[]

Generally, Tsuyu and Shoto do not interact frequently, but they are on good terms, and are friends. Tsuyu expressed concern when Shoto, Eijiro, and the others planned on rescuing Katsuki, flat-out refusing to let them leave. When Shoto and the others returned after rescuing Katsuki, she tearfully apologized for doubting their plan, showing how worried she was about her friends. Shoto apologized for making Tsuyu worry, and promised never to do so again.

Katsuki Bakugo[]

Tsu teases Katsuki

Tsuyu pokes fun at Katsuki's bad attitude.

Tsuyu and Katsuki have little interaction, largely due to the latter's stubborn, loud, and arrogant behavior. Katsuki chooses to ignore most of his classmates, Tsuyu included. Due to her blunt nature, Tsuyu remarked on Katsuki's slim chances of becoming a hero and growing popular, much to the latter's irritation, calling her "frog face."

While she was upset by his capture, she tried to beg her classmates to not get involved with the rescue because it would cause more chaos. Regardless, she was happy that he was saved and guilty about her words.

In the aftermath of the Paranormal War, she aided her classmates in restraining him after he causes a ruckus. However, she was aware that he was upset about Izuku still being unconscious.[5]

Toru Hagakure[]

Tsuyu appears to be friends with Toru, if not on good terms at least. They often sit with Ochaco, Tenya, Shoto, and Izuku during lunch. While developing Ultimate Move for the Provisional Hero License Exam. Toru asked how hers is coming along. She told her that she created a move that would make her more frog like than before. Tsuyu even said that even her could be surprised. The two usually hang out with the other girls outside of class, be it in U.A.'s cafeteria or in UA Alliances' lounge room. Upon returning from their mission to save Eri, Ochaco and Tsuyu are both hugged by Toru, who is content that they're okay.

Other students[]

Nejire Hado[]

Nejire imitating Tsuyu tics

Nejire imitating Tsuyu tics.

Nejire helped Ochaco and Tsuyu get an internship with Ryukyu. The three established a friendship with each other since Ochaco and Tsuyu listened and cooperated with Nejire splendidly during their internship, as well as when Ochaco and Tsuyu fought against Himiko Toga.

Nejire also calls Tsuyu 'Tsu' which is a nickname Tsuyu only allows her close friends to call her, this hinting that the two girls grew very fond of each other during Ochaco and Tsuyu's internship.

Hitoshi Shinso[]

Tsuyu talking to Hitoshi

Tsuyu recognizes Hitoshi's capability to be a hero.

Tsuyu teamed up with Hitoshi, during the first round of the Joint Training Battle. After the initial clash with the Class 1-B team, Hitoshi apologizes for his lack of battle readiness but Tsuyu replies that was her fault because she should've come up with a better plan to keep him off the front lines.

After winning the round, Tsuyu recognizes Hitoshi's combat ability and strength, praising him and asking him to forget what he said before about being behind. Hitoshi responds to Tsuyu's praise by saying he still has much to improve.

Pro Heroes[]

Oki Mariner Crew[]

Tsuyu and the Oki Mariner Crew

Tsuyu with the Oki Mariner crew.

Tsuyu gets along very well with the Oki Mariner crew, especially with the captain Selkie and his sidekick Sirius, with whom she trained alongside in the internship. Sirius taught Tsuyu the importance of becoming a hero and agreed that she will become a great hero one day. Due to her inexperience and that she is not yet a Hero, Selkie tries to avoid Tsuyu being involved in hero works, but congratulates her when she does the right thing in a dangerous situation. Tsuyu seems to be the only one who finds the captain adorable when he attempts to make himself look cute.[6]

Ryukyu[]

Ryukyu Squad

Tsuyu in Ryukyu's squad.

Thanks to Nejire's recommendation, Tsuyu, along with Ochaco, is hired by "Dragon Hero" Ryukyu for internship. Tsuyu respects the Pro Hero and is grateful that she accepts her as an intern. On the other hand, Ryukyu thinks that she has potential, and that the internship will help to develop her fighting skills.[7]

Ryukyu relies enough on Tsuyu's abilities to consider her fit to participate in the raid against the Shie Hassaikai. During the operation, along with Ochaco and Nejire, Tsuyu helps Ryukyu to defeat Rikiya Katsukame.[8]

League of Villains[]

Himiko Toga[]

Himiko vs Tsuyu

Tsuyu fighting against Himiko.

Tsuyu and Himiko are enemies. Tsuyu greatly dislikes Himiko for aiding in the League of Villains' attack on the camp, as well as attacking her and Ochaco. Tsuyu considers her to be crazy because of her behavior in their meeting. Despite Himiko's attempts to befriend her, Tsuyu reacted with displeasure, especially when Himiko called her by her first name, since that's something only her friends are allowed to do.

Former schoolmates[]

Habuko Mongoose[]

Tsuyu Asui and Habuko Mongoose friendship

Tsuyu and Habuko hug in their reunion.

Habuko was a student who attended the same middle school as Tsuyu and was the first friend Tsuyu made. They had many similarities to each other; having strange appearances that made it difficult for them to make friends and they were lonely individuals as a result. Often, Habuko would stalk Tsuyu but not with ill-intent. Tsuyu did not mind this because she understood Habuko's loneliness resulting from her appearance. Eventually, Tsuyu asked to be friends with Habuko. Touched by her kindness, Habuko agreed to be friends with her. Ever since, the pair were close to one another.

They graduated from middle school together, but went to different high schools. Even though they are at different high schools, Tsuyu and Habuko never stopped being friends with one another as shown when Habuko sent her a message and Tsuyu herself notes that Habuko will always be her friend; their friendship became a catalyst that helped them socialize more and make new friends from their respective high schools.

Civilians[]

Eri[]

Tsuyu enjoys seeing Eri when she came to visit soon after the U.A. School Festival and remarks that Eri reminds her of her little sister when Eri's hair is tied back into pigtails.[9] Eri herself seems to really like Tsuyu.
