Takaie Kanigumo (可児雲隆家, Kanigumo Takaie^?) was a member of the Meta Liberation Army and later the Paranormal Liberation Front, becoming one of the second-ranked advisers in the Vanguard Action Support Regiment: Brown, following the merging of the Meta Liberation Army and the League of Villains.

Appearance

Takaie is an average height heteromorphic man, with an appearance resembling that of a spider. His back has two spider legs and has two pairs of five spider-like teeth covering his actual mouth. He has six wavy green marks that go from his forehead to the back of his head and a scar on the left side of it. He dresses in a black long shirt with a large yellow fur collar and wears a black mask to cover his face.

Personality

Takaie mocks and despises those who talk about co-existence.

Takaie is dedicated to the Paranormal Liberation Front's ideology and believes that a future for heteromorphs should begin with the bloodshed of those who looked down on, rejected, and abused them. After Re-Destro's arrest, he views Spinner as a new shining beacon for the PLF heteromorphs to look up to.

Believing that violence is the way to create a better world for mutants, Takaie tries to force his beliefs on other heteromorphs and gets irritable when they fight against the prejudice they faced in a different way that doesn't involve violence, even going as far as to mock Tentacole for his "naivety" about there being a better way. Despite looking at Spinner as a symbol of hope for heteromorphs, his respect for him diminished slightly when the former's mind was starting to break from his Body Bulk Quirk, causing confusion among the heteromorph mob.

History

Paranormal Liberation War Arc

Takaie participates in the Paranormal Liberation War.

When the Heroes begin their raid on the Gunga Mountain Villa, Takaie was present in the battle against the Heroes, along with the other PLF advisers. After Gigantomachia's rampage through multiple cities, Takaie is among the 132 warriors in the PLF that managed to escape captivity.

Star and Stripe Arc

A radicalized Takaie spreads the message of uprising against the system.

After the Paranormal Liberation War, Takaie, along with some of the remaining members of the Spinner's squadron, continue to stoke the embers of revolution. He laments that Re-Destro has been captured, but fortunately the heteromorphs' hopes of liberation are not completely dashed, as they see Spinner as their new figurehead for their ideals and their will tear down the old regime they suffered under for so long.

They receive a message from Skeptic, who told them to keep the ambers of liberation aligh. Their radicalization and recruitment efforts are stoked on by posters of Spinner calling for a uprising and audio logs produced and distributed by Skeptic.

Final War Arc

With Spinner as their leader, an army of heteromorphs in the PLF, and heteromorph civilians that sympathize with them, attempt a raid on Central Hospital to free Kurogiri. As the chaos continues, Takaie acts as the preacher to the heteromorphs and giving a speech about how they are mistreated by society while also commanding them to fight back against their oppressors.

As Tentacole tries to talk all of them out of fighting, Takaie mocks the hero for his naive delusions. Suddenly a huge flock of birds and insects appear behind him, all commanded by Anima, who demands him not to mock his friend, as he starts to go though a transformation, while a large horn begins to grow from his head, empowering his Quirk.

Before things get worse, a pig-faced mutant who saved Tentacole says that maybe they are using their anger in the wrong way. Takaie held down by Anima calls out to them not to stop and to keep following their spokesman, reminding them how the system mistreats them. With the fighting coming to a close, Takaie along with a couple of other villains in the riot are arrested.

Overall Abilities: It is unknown what Takaie's full strength and Meta Ability is, but given he is a second ranked adviser in the Vanguard Action Support Regiment: Brown, it's assumed that he is as strong or stronger than an average Pro Hero.

Unnamed Spider Meta Ability: Takaie's Meta Ability gives him a spider-like appearance, though its powers are unknown.

Trivia

• In a piece of concept art from a Volume 31 extra, Takaie's original villain name was intended to be "Disgustus", though it went unused.
• Takaie is the only known named mutant in the Meta Liberation Army, and only known named mutant adviser in the Paranormal Liberation Front.
