Self-Detonation (爆発 Bakuhatsu?)[1], also known as Detonation, is the Quirk of the Bombers, Number 6, and the Anonymous.

The Quirk grants the users the ability to self-destruct through a large explosion that is generated within their bodies. The body part begins to swell and glow for the explosive energy they accumulate before detonating.[2]

The power of the blast varies depending on the user, as seen with the Bombers, the largest specimens generate more powerful explosions. However, even the self-destruction of the smaller ones is powerful enough to cause serious damage.

Due to their automaton mentality, the Bombers do not self-detonate by their own will, but only when they receive an order to do so. Apparently, Self-Detonation is a Quirk that can be activated through a device used by a third party.[3]

In general, the Self-Detonation results in the death or the mutilation of the Bomber, unless it has been modified to have regenerative capacities.[4]

The Anonymous' version of the Quirk is also significantly weaker than the Bombers' explosions, which is made up through having them travel and attack in hordes.[5]

Because they are bioengineered weapons, the agents of the Villain Factory use the Bombers to carry out Kamikaze attacks, causing great destruction when they order a Bomber to explode.[6]

Through bioengineering, the Villain Factory can ensure that some specimens can combine this Quirk with others to carry out special attacks without causing the immediate destruction of the Next-Level Villain. This is the case of the Multi-Armed Bomber, who was modified so that it could combine its self-detonation with a Regeneration Quirk, allowing him to perform explosive punches and regenerate any lost limb to throw more explosive punches.[7] It can even concentrate more detonating power in its fists to perform more powerful attacks.[8]

The same goes for Number 6, he can also perform explosive attacks, losing his arms with each punch, but combining the Bombers cells with his regenerative capacity, and Overclock Quirk, he recovers his arms instantly.[9]

  • The Self-Destruct Quirk All For One secretly gave to Lady Nagant, as well as the Burst Quirk used by the winged Near High-End Nomu, share many resemblances to Self-Detonation, as they are all Quirks that can be activated by a third party, and leave the user incapacitated in some way. As all three can be traced back to All For One through his connections to Lady Nagant, the Nomu, and the Villain Factory respectively, it is possible that these Quirks are related, if not artificial duplicates of the same Quirk.[10][11]
