Paulo Gollini (パウロ・ゴリーニ Pauro Gorīni?) is a member of the Gollini Family mafia in My Hero Academia: You're Next.
Appearance[]
Paulo is a man with an eerie appearance, having purple skin, small black eyes, no visible mouth, and a face with a pointed muzzle and jagged fin-shaped ears that stick upward at an angle.
His clothing consists of a black suit, leather tailcoat, white gloves, purple tie, black pants, brown derby shoes, and a black fedora with holes for his ears to pass through. Like other members of the Gollini Family, he has a rose on his person, being on his tailcoat.
Personality[]
Paulo was a cautious and dutiful member of the Gollini Family who sought out any threats or loose ends. Upon learning about a mysterious assaliant out to kill Anna Scervino, Paulo took immediate notice of him and requested his boss if he could deal with him, wanting to make up for his previous failure of letting Ginji Kurau escape with Anna.
Unlike the other members of the Gollini Family, Paulo sought to deal with and finish his targets rather than play and torment them. This direct approach was best demonstrated upon him pursuing Giulio after getting his Quirk overmodified with no delay. With two of his henchmen by his side, Paulo remained stern and confident, refusing to hand Anna back to Giulio and telling the man that they would use her Quirk as they saw fit. In battle, he remained calm and was able to coordinate with his allies on a plan of attack to corner and suppress their enemies.

Paulo panics when Dark Might decides to dispose of him.
Despite his supposed seriousness and commitment to the Gollini Family, Paulo soon shows a more cowardly side and quickly panicked when the tables were turned on him. Immediately after Izuku Midoriya and Giulio defeated his allies, Paulo desperately tried to flee but to no avail. Upon being seized and confronted by his boss, Paulo began bawling and begging for his life, swearing that he would never fail or disappoint him again in order to be spared, only to be ignored.
History[]
Since the age of seven, he was seen active in local gangs under the name "Paulo", eventually gaining a criminal record by the age of seventeen, having committed crimes like theft and assault.
Eventually he became a member of the most dangerous crime syndicate in Europe, Gollini Family, along with his associates: Valdo, Deborah, Simon, Bruno, Kamile, Ugo, and Gil.
After taking over, Valdo and his family became notorious in their region, with the Heroes unable to capture them, while the Gollini Family continued acquiring more territory and power. Even other Heroes outside of Europe learned about the Gollini Family and were cautious if they ever appeared in their own countries, and soon, their existence caught All Might's attention. Valdo was obsessed with All Might, even going to lengths to use his own Quirk, Alchemy, to model his entire existence to become like the Hero, and thus, he has a great devotion to him, most notably his unstoppable power and strength. He extensively studied all of All Might's Ultimate Moves from his "young age" to his "golden age."
After the final battle between the Symbol of Peace: All Might and the leader of the League of Villains: All For One, at Kamino in Japan, Valdo leads his syndicate to new heights and declares that he will take his place and become All Might's successor.[2]
To that end, they learned of the daughter and heir of the wealthy Scervino Family: Anna Scervino and her Quirk, which can modify and enhance Quirks to an immense degree. Valdo led an assault on the Scervino Household, killing Anna's father and kidnapping Anna. They learned that only certain "compatible" individuals could make use of Anna's Quirk, with anyone else being hit with a negative reaction upon touching Anna. As a result, the family of thousands was culled down to only eight main individuals. Unbeknownst to them, Giulio Gandini, survived the assault and was treated for his injuries, but because of his injuries, his right arm, eye, and left leg were replaced with robotic prosthetics, and his own Quirk has been rendered unusable since it relies on him using his right arm.[3][4]
Synopsis[]
My Hero Academia: You're Next[]
Valdo leds the entire family and takes Anna to Japan, the home country of All Might. Japan has entered a chaotic state of unrest as the result of the Paranormal Liberation War, between the destruction caused by the War, the many Villains that have broken out of prisons and been wreaking havoc on the streets after All For One's escape from Tartarus, and the significant decrease in Heroes after many died or retired in the aftermath. With many civilians no longer trusting the authorities and Heroes, they have started to arm themselves with weapons and support items to defend themselves.
To get inside the country, the Gollini Family formed an alliance with Ginji Kurau, one of the Villains who escaped from Tartarus, with him being revealed that he was one of the few compatible with Anna's Quirk. However, desperate for help, Anna pleaded with Ginji and the two formed a deal, that Anna would modify Ginji's Quirk, and in exchange, he would help her escape from the Gollini's captivity. Ginji ended up blindsiding Paulo and managed to escape with Anna.
After getting out however, Ginji went back on his word and chose to use his modified Mad Gluttony to go on a rampage, believing that he would be unstoppable with Anna's Quirk. Fortunately, Class 1-A from the U.A. High Heroes Course were notified on Ginji's rampage and are dispatched to capture him. Class 1-A arrived on the scene first to apprehend the villain; however, Giulio' who arrived in Japan after tracking Anna, interrupts their capture.
Bruno uses his Delay Spot Quirk to stop Giulio from killing Anna with a single shot, and recovers her just as the rest of the Gollini Family arrive in their private yacht. Anna tries to resist upon being taken onto the ship, but Deborah uses her Day Dream to subdue her. With Anna back in their hands, Valdo undoes his mask, revealing that he has the appearance of prime All Might, shocking everyone. Valdo then touches Anna, allowing his Alchemy Quirk to become immensely enhanced, and their floating ship transforms into a massive fortress, consuming everything in its path in an ocean of light. Soon, the rest of Class 1-A were caught by the light and are consumed inside of the massive fortress.
With the massive fortress now complete, Valdo conjures a majestic palace for him and the Gollini Family, with Anna in his possession. He instructs each of the family to have their Quirks enhanced through Anna, and with each family empowered, they can now begin their next phase. Kamile uses his Spatial Excursion, to move the fortress, as it pushes itself forward across cities, consuming everything in their vicinity.
Now as Dark Might, he wants to know which student of Class 1-A is All Might's successor and decides to test them to see which one is worthy of being a challenge. Using video cameras to observe all the different biomes in the fortress, he also notices that Giulio is inside as well. He initially intends to ignore him, but Paulo volunteers to dispose of him, to make up for accidentally losing Anna earlier. He instructs each of the family to have their Quirks enhanced through Anna, and with each family empowered, they can now begin their next phase.
Paulo used his Quirk to create a large dome-shaped wave of energy that deactivates the Quirks of anyone within its range and a smaller bubble within the field which keeps the Quirks of those within active for three henchmen in a coastal beach bedrock waiting for Giulio and Izuku Midoriya. Within the outer bubble, Izuku cannot activate his One For All Quirk, rendering him Quirkless. Izuku is able to deduce that Paulo is the one causing his Quirk not to function using his Quirk, Erasure Spot, which allows him to conjure a field of bubble to disable Quirks and a smaller bubble for him to activate Quirks. He is able to deduce his weak spot and, together with Giulio, Izuku reaches the spot to re-activate his Quirk and defeats Paulo with Faux 100 Percent: Manchester Smash.
After Paulo was defeated, Dark Might shows up in front of them. Izuku attacks with Full Cowl, but Dark Might effortlessly blocks it and then defeats Izuku with his Ultimate Move, Bologna Smash, punching right into Izuku's face, sending him flying into the mountain and knocking him unconscious; Giulio quickly rushes over and catches him before he falls. Dark Might then conjures monsters from the ground and admonishes Paulo for failing once again. Paulo pleads with Dark Might to spare his life and give him a chance, but Dark Might has already given him a chance and he failed, so Dark Might opens a hole on the ground and punishes him by dropping him into the void, seemingly falling to his death.
Dark Might was eventually defeated by the combined assaults of Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto, and his defeat caused Dark Might's fortress to collapse.[5]
Abilities[]
Quirk[]
Erasure Spot (アン・イデオロギー An Ideorogī?): Paulo's Quirk allowed him to create a large dome-shaped wave of energy that deactivates the Quirks of anyone within its range. He could also create a smaller bubble within the field which kept all Quirks active. When boosted by Anna's Overmodification Quirk, the range increases dramatically, to the point that it can cover an entire mountain-range area.
