Neutralization (
Description[]
Neutralization allows the user to temporarily nullify a target's Quirk by touching them, which is activated from the right arm of the user. The activation of this Quirk is shown when the palm of the user's right hand glows a bright light blue. The more powerful a Quirk is, the longer and brighter the light is emitted from the user's hand. While its abilities are not great for combat purposes, this Quirk is effective more towards treating Quirks with terrible effects on their user's, such as Overmodification. Thanks to Neutralization, Anna Scervino's seizures were mitigated and she was able to live a somewhat normal life.
After Overmodification went out of control, it managed to modify Neutralization's capabilities. Not only was the Quirk no longer limited to use of the right arm for it to be activated, but it could now completely neutralize a Quirk, making a person effectively Quirkless.
It is currently unknown whether Giulio's Neutralization Quirk remained restored, modified, or lost upon the neutralization of Overmodification.
Weaknesses[]
Neutralization's Quirk Factor is stored in the user's right arm. If it was to be ever removed or damaged, then the Quirk would become unusable. Giulio ended up losing access to his Quirk upon the Gollini Family attacking the Scervino Household and leaving him for dead, where he lost his right arm. It was also implied not to have been a particularly strong Quirk, and that if Overmodification became too strong one day, Giulio may die from trying to neutralize it. This weakness though was removed upon being modified by Overmodification.
Trivia[]
- Neutralization's powers could have been a nod to the Marvel Comics character, Leech.
- Neutralization being specifically in the right arm is likely to be a nod to Kamijou Touma from the A Certain Magical Index series, as his Imagine Breaker bears a similar ability to nullify supernatural abilities on touch.
- Neutralization is very similar to Eraser Head's Erasure Quirk, with the only difference being that Erasure's Quirk Factor lies in the users eyes, while Neutralization's is in the right arm.
- Both users also had their Quirk Factors damaged by Villains to the point where those abilities became functionally useless, though Neutralization was eventually able to have its Quirk Factor expanded to counteract this.
