Season 5 is the fifth season of the My Hero Academia anime. It aired from March 27, 2021 to September 25, 2021 in Japan, covering a Joint Training exercise between Class 1-A and 1-B, an internship at Endeavor's Agency for Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto, and the League of Villains battling against a new threat of their own. It is a direct sequel to the fourth season, and was followed by a sixth season.

The season is comprised of 25 episodes, covering the Joint Training Arc, Endeavor Agency Arc, and the Meta Liberation Army Arc, ending at the beginning of the Paranormal Liberation War Arc.

Season 5 was announced in the 18th issue of the 2020 Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on March 30, 2020.
As with previous seasons, the production of season five was confirmed at the end of the final episode of season four.[2] It was later confirmed by Funimation that preparation has started in Japan.[3]
On July 8, 2020, Yuki Hayashi posted a tweet saying that he and the other composers have begun recording the soundtrack for season five.[4]
After Hero FES 2020 occurred on October 3, 2020, the official Japanese Twitter account confirmed that season five will begin airing during Spring 2021.[5] It was later revealed on December 18, 2020, at Jump Festa 2021, that season five would start airing on March 27, 2021 for Japan.[6]
