Our Katsuki... he's rash on everything he does, and most things come easy to him. During his whole life, people've made a fuss about him by praising him for every little thing he does... so I was so glad to hear what you had to say at that press conference. I was thinking that U.A. really understands our boy.
Mitsuki Bakugo to Shota Aizawa in "Home Visits"

Mitsuki Bakugo ( (ばく) (ごう) (みつ) () Bakugō Mitsuki?) is Katsuki Bakugo's mother and the wife of Masaru Bakugo.

Appearance[]

Mitsuki is a woman with spiky ash-blonde hair and red eyes; the same aforementioned traits that her son Katsuki inherited. Because of her Quirk, she maintains a youthful appearance despite being in her late thirties. At home, she is seen wearing a white blouse underneath a lavender cardigan with a short black skirt.

Following the Paranormal Liberation War, her hair became shorter, nearing her chin.

Personality[]

Katsuki and his mom

Mitsuki arguing with her son.

Much like her son, Mitsuki has a short-tempered nature that quickly leads to an aggressive attitude, heavily suggesting that Katsuki got his unpleasant traits from his mother. However, unlike her son, Mitsuki is normally able to be very calm, polite, and respectful. Mitsuki gets along well with her husband and was very respectful towards the U.A. teachers, despite her son's kidnapping.[2]

Mitsuki recognizes the flaws in her son that were instilled in him due to a combination of his innate talent for seemingly all he does, his powerful Quirk, and the way people would constantly fawn over him during his childhood because of these attributes. Mitsuki disapproves of Katsuki's arrogant and self-centered attitude and even smacked him several times during home visits from U.A. teachers. Despite recognizing all of Katsuki's flaws, Mitsuki desires that he become a Pro Hero and is thankful for the U.A. teachers for believing in his potential. She is also glad to see that his teachers see Katsuki for his tenacity rather than his aggression.[2]

History[]

At some point in her early life, Mitsuki met Masaru Bakugo and was instantly in love. At the time, Masaru was working at a job that involved fashion, which flattered Mitsuki. Mitsuki hit on Masaru rather aggressively, making him say yes to a date. After a long time of chasing him, they eventually got married and had their son, Katsuki, sometime later.

Synopsis[]

U.A. Sports Festival Arc[]

Following Katsuki's victory at the U.A. Sports Festival, he returns home. The next morning, he angrily brushes his teeth after waking up at noon. Annoyed at the noise, Mitsuki yells at him for getting up at noon and angrily yelling at his mouth germs.[3]

Hideout Raid Arc[]

All Might and company rescue Katsuki from the League of Villains and he returns home. All Might and Shota Aizawa visit the Bakugo household to get the approval of Katsuki's parents for the new all dorm system U.A. wishes to implement. Mitsuki agrees without hesitation and smacks Katsuki because of his attitude. Katsuki yells at her not to hit him, but she yells back and calls him weak for getting kidnapped. They begin to argue and Masaru tries to calm them down.

Bakugo family approves

Mitsuki and Masaru entrust their son to U.A.

After calming down, Mitsuki states that she's grateful for the all dorm system because she's having trouble dealing with Katsuki's attitude. She tells the teachers that he got this way because he was widely praised for his Quirk and other shallow things. Mitsuki expresses her gratitude that Shota was able to see Katsuki's desire to become the best despite his arrogant nature. Mitsuki once again agrees to leave Katsuki in U.A's care since her son returned home safe and she asks Shota to make her son into a fine Hero. Katsuki follows All Might outside. Mitsuki yells and reminds him that the police told him not to go outside.[2]

Dark Hero Arc[]

Inko and Mitsuki move to U.A.

Mitsuki moves to U.A. with Inko.

In the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, All For One has escaped from Tartarus, and proceeded to break into several more maximum security prisons, liberating the inmates. Due to the chaos inflicted by Gigantomachia and the mass breakout of prisoners, the whole country entered a state of total chaos and anarchy. In addition, many heroes resigned and called it quits because of the massive criticism of their work, and the destruction spreading unchecked.

Mitsuki comforting Inko

Mitsuki comforting Inko.

Mitsuki and her husband were forced to move into the evacuation shelter at U.A. due to the widespread of destruction caused by the mass prison escapees. She ends up moving in at the same time as Izuku Midoriya's mother, Inko.[4] When her son and his classmates returned to the heavily fortified U.A. after bringing Izuku back after he went rogue as a hero, they are confronted by angry protesting civilians taking shelter in the school, demanding them not to let Izuku in, fearing for their safety aware he's the villains' target. Mitsuki was seen holding back Inko for protection after she tearfully saw the current state her son.[5] It took Ochaco to pacify the whole crowd, and asking them to let themselves be assured that Izuku will be their salvation.

U.A. Traitor Arc[]

Class 1-A say goodbye to UA evacuees

Mitsuki was very persistent to Katsuki before saying goodbye.

Shortly afterwards, Nezu announces to the civilians that the villains will make their big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A giving their thanks to everyone at the entrance, with them all ready to head back out. The students say their goodbyes to everyone, with Katsuki saying goodbye to his family members, though Mitsuki was very persistent over his cocky attitude, much to his annoyance.[6]

Final War Arc[]

As the fighting in the Final War commences, Mitsuki and her husband continue to stay at the evacuation shelter. She notices that the cumulonimbus storm has started growing over Japan and continues to expand, combined with the tropical typhoon that begins to pick up massive wind speeds. She comments how much Katsuki does not like the rain, wondering what he will do next, unaware of her son's near death at the hands of Tomura Shigaraki.[7] Luckily, Katsuki manages to survive and ends up partaking in the battle against All For One, which is currently being broadcast around the world. As they watch from the shelter, Masaru is too afraid to look, but Mitsuki says they have to watch the fight for their son's sake, because their kid must be out there grinning like he always does.[8] They watch in awe as Katsuki manages to hold his own against the Villain, standing up to the might of his ultimate attack with his own Explosions, and successfully defeating him.[9] Mitsuki and her husband were also watching the live broadcast of the final battle between Izuku and Tomura.[10] Eventually, Izuku and the Heroes managed to succeed in defeating Tomura once and for all, as his body disintegrates into ashes.[11]

One week after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. Maitsuki and her husband went to check on Katsuki who was hospitalized and treated for his severe injuries he received. They received the bad news about his condition from the doctor. He tells them that Katsuki's body won't ever go back to normal, with his right arm completely stitched up but mingled from his fight with Tomura and All For One, and the surgery won't get better than that. They were able to join and set together a large amount of bone fragments, but they can't guarantee rehabilitation will give him back use of his right arm. He recommends Katsuki to have prosthetics like what Mirko got if he wants to be a hero, but Katsuki declines, since his Quirk comes from the palms, and thinks about how Izuku never had one. He shouts to bring on the rehab, but the doctor says he must only do low-level exercises, reminding him that he died if it wasn't for Edgeshot suturing and restarting his heart, but he has no idea how Katsuki managed to keep fighting, or why he travelled so many kilometers right afterward, telling him he was given a second shot at life and heeded the call, so for now to focus on rest.

Despite being told to rest, Katsuki ends up disobeying and goes to check on Izuku and All Might, despite his parents yelling at him for moving. He barges into the room just to hear that Izuku lost One For All and now he has only the lingering embers, causing him to realize that Izuku's going to be Quirkless in the future despite Izuku's reassurance. Katsuki begins to cry, much to Izuku's flabbergasting shock.[12]

Abilities[]

Quirk[]

Glycerin (グリセリン Guriserin?): Mitsuki's Quirk gives her the ability to secrete Glycerin from her skin. Because of its moisturizing effect, she maintains great skin quality, despite her age.
