"We're better than you and we'll take you down to prove it!"

Masegaki Primary School has a reputation for housing problematic children who have trouble respecting those who are older than them. The children of this school are noted to be precociously aware of social concerns and relationships. They are also shown to have very powerful Quirks with remarkably good control over them at such young ages.

The children's powerful Quirks, combined with their rebellious natures, leads to them being confident enough to challenge a group of hero students, believing full well that they will win. The school's only shown teacher, Komari Ikoma, is very stressed with how little control she has over her class, apologizing on their behalf and entrusting Gang Orca and his remedial students with watching over them.[2]

The children are shown to have a leader, an unnamed boy with blond hair and a smug expression who believes him and his classmates are superior to adults due to their unexpected power, and annoyed at how grown-ups always think that they know best. While they were initially very difficult to deal with, the remedial course students eventually manage to reach them by creating a play area with their Quirks.[3] The students have since become friends with the remedial students and now look up to them, particularly Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki.

Sometime after the Final War, the school created an annual "Summer Cool-Off Five Weenies Festival" in honor of Shoto, who regularly attends and entertains the children by using his ice powers to create them castles, slides and other recreational structures for the amusement of the young students, much like his Remedial Course training.[4][5]

Trivia[]

  • The name of the school contains the word "brat" (ガキ gaki?), which can also be "troublesome child".
    • In fact, the whole name of the school means "precocious brat" (マセガキ masegaki?), appropriately describing the children studying there.
  • Kohei Horikoshi reveals that he initially based the blond leader of the students on a non-Japanese child that he met a long time ago.[6]
