Izuku Midoriya vs. Rody Soul is a chase where Endeavor's trainee Deku tries to capture Rody Soul.
Prologue[]
Rody Soul is a street urchin who accepted the job of being a courier man to deliver a briefcase full of stolen jewels at the Chinese restaurant in the South Cave. He arrives at the designated place and waits for the villains in charge of delivering the briefcase to appear. Unbeknownst to him, the two villains were chased by Deku and his classmates, Katsuki and Shoto.
Rody begins to worry about his contacts being late when he hears a commotion. One of the villains rushes past him and hands him the briefcase before continuing to flee. Rody is somewhat confused, but seeing Shoto chasing his accomplice, he quickly understands what is going on and leaves as quickly as possible, but Deku notices that he has the briefcase and starts chasing him.[1]
Battle[]
Deku goes after Rody through the alley, but when he reaches a square he momentarily loses sight of him, until he spots him turning into another street. Once he gets there, he sees Rody going up the fire escape of a nearby building. Using One For All, Deku leaps to reach him, but Pino, the little bird that always accompanies Rody, flies at him, crashing into his face and farting on his nose, leaving Deku momentarily dizzy.
When he recovers, Deku spots Rody running across the rooftops and continues the chase. After being warned by Pino about this, Rody decides to take a specific route in order to shake the young hero off him. Deku tries to capture him with Blackwhip, but Rody easily dodges the tendrils, using his parkour-like skills and greater knowledge of the city streets to evade him. In the end, Deku loses sight of him again, but he refuses to give up.
While this persecution is taking place, Alan Kay is driving a car on a nearby road, carrying the briefcase containing essential information to stop Humarise plan to bring the world into chaos. Suddenly he notices Beros is behind him on a motorcycle. She starts shooting arrows at him using her Longbow Quirk, damaging the vehicle enough for Alan to lose control of it and crashing into the walls of a bridge.
Because of this, the briefcase comes out of the wrecked vehicle, falling off the bridge along with pieces of the wall. Just at the time of the crash, Rody is passing under the bridge, and dodges the falling debris by the skin of his teeth. Not far away, Deku sees the accident, though Shoto yells at him that he'll take care of it so he can go after the robber.
The street urchin recovers his composure when he realizes that he is unharmed, but finds that the briefcase with the jewelry slipped from his hands when he was trying to avoid being crushed. Fortunately for him, he finds it quickly and without a scratch, so he picks it up, and immediately flees to the subway when Deku arrives and chases him again. Beros witnesses them, but leaves to retrieve Alan's case.
Rody gets on the train just as it is about to leave, and once inside he relaxes at the thought that he has finally managed to evade Deku, only to be totally shocked when he sees him holding on to the windshield after being able to catch up to the vehicle on foot.[1]
Aftermath[]
At the next subway stop, Deku questions Rody about why he was running and asks him to show him what's inside the briefcase, but Rody refuses to comply, arguing that he is a foreign hero with no jurisdiction in Otheon. They fight over the briefcase until it accidentally opens, showing that inside there are only notepads and documents. Deku, and especially Rody, are dumbfounded to see that there is no jewelry.
On the bridge, Shoto is congratulated by the local police for helping them to prevent the crashing car from exploding. Then, he is informed of the large holes that caused the vehicle to crash, indicating that it was attacked. In an alley, Beros checks Alan's briefcase, only to find it is full of jewelry. Frustrated, she realizes that during the scuffle earlier, Rody accidentally picked up the briefcase she was after, thinking it was his. Beros reports Flect Turn about her failure, and he orders her to continue tracking while he takes measures.[1]
