Ichi Anrakuki (安楽 (アンラク) 喜一 (キイチ) Anraku Kiichi?) is a prisoner of Mikuzu Prison from My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.[1]

Appearance[]

Ichi is an adult man with short black hair and a resting face that is constantly scowling. As a prisoner of Mikuzu Prison, he generally wears the prison's standard, blank clothes.

Personality[]

Ichi is a serious and embittered person, but is polite and cooperative as an inmate and doesn't cause trouble. However, he has since given up on trying to rebuild his life, believing that a criminal like himself is doomed to wallow in the gutter forever. As a result of being ostracized by society for his convict status and seeing the friend who betrayed him become wealthy and successful, he is extremely bitter about the trajectory of his own life and the justice system as a whole.

Ichi is surprised by Danjuro Tobita's attempt at being a model prisoner, but due to his past, initially shrugs him off and tells him not to bother. However, after being saved by Danjuro, he shows to be a kind and fair person, being willing to be punished alongside Danjuro for his Quirk use as thanks for saving him. Following this, Ichi starts to believe that he may not be a lost cause after all and becomes willing to put his best foot forward again.

History[]

When he was younger, Ichi worked at a tech start-up founded by his friend, they both wanted to work hard and become success stories that would inspire others. Eventually, seeking more investors, his friend instructed Ichi to manipulate the company's financial statements so they would look better. Not wanting to turn down orders from the company's CEO, Ichi went ahead with it. When this was exposed however, Ichi was framed for the entire thing, and incarcerated in Mikuzu Prison for financial fraud. Wanting to atone for his crimes, he waited out his sentence as a model prisoner, getting a mechanic certification in the meantime.

However, upon being released, Ichi found that nobody would hire an ex-convict, and was rendered homeless. One day while living on the streets, he saw his former friend, now extremely wealthy and successful. In a fit of rage, Ichi attacked him, was arrested for aggravated assault, and incarcerated back in Mikuzu Prison.[1]

Synopsis[]

Upon being escorted into Mikuzu Prison, Ichi runs into Danjuro Tobita, surprised to find such an elegant old man in prison. When Danjuro appeared to repeatedly mess up the tasks assigned by the guards, Ichi questioned if he was trying to distract them, only to instead learn that he was trying to be a model prisoner. Disillusioned from his previous prison stint, Ichi tried to convince him not to bother and told his story to Danjuro, saying that there's no way back up from the hole they've fallen into. Before leaving, Ichi told Danjuro that when it comes to prison work, they should just wing it and call it a day.

Some time later, the prisoners were working on a construction project. After standing on a board with a loose screw, Ichi fell from the scaffolding, believing that this fate was him reaping what he sowed. However, Danjuro acted just in time and used his Elasticity to save him with Gently Trampoline. This Quirk use violated prison rules however, so Danjuro was penalized. Ichi tried to defend Danjuro, saying that he only did it to save him, but the guards refuse to make an exception and take him away.

Later on, word of Danjuro's selfless act soon spread across the prison, with inmates wondering why he would shoot himself in the foot like that. Ichi approaches Danjuro and asked why he saved him, as using his Quirk ruined his chance at becoming a model prisoner. Ichi soon realizes that Danjuro has someone waiting for him on the outside, a suspicion that Danjuro confirms upon taking out a photo of him and Manami Aiba. Danjuro believes that by being a gentleman and extending a hand when it matters, only then will he be worthy of seeing her again. Hearing this, Ichi decides to use his own Quirk, Static, not wanting Danjuro to be punished alone. Thanks to Danjuro's selfless act, Ichi believes that the world may not have abandoned him after all and becomes willing to try and reform himself again.

As the guard prepares to take Ichi away, he tells Danjuro that he saw the photo of him and his granddaughter, with Ichi assuring him that he will see her again. However, Danjuro corrects Ichi, saying that Manami isn't his granddaughter and that he's only 32 years old; Ichi is shocked that Danjuro is actually younger than him despite seeming so refined.[1]
