Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall (穿 () (てん) (ひょう) (へき) Gaten Hyōheki?) is a Super Move performed by Shoto Todoroki using his Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk.

Description

Shoto freezing a large section of The Beast's Forest.

Shoto uses his ice powers to create a massive ice ridge in order to either freeze[1] or block[2] his opponent with its large size.

He can control the size of the ice wall to some degree. When he used this technique against Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto created a much more controlled version compared to when he attacked Hanta Sero with it.[3]

After his Quirk training under the Wild, Wild Pussycats, Shoto was able to produce a massive wall of ice multiple times against Mr. Compress albeit none of them succeeding in stopping the villain.[4]

During the Tartarus Escapees Arc, Shoto uses a version that resembles a shape more akin to an actual wall against Izuku Midoriya.[5]

Weaknesses

The major drawback of this move is that it drops Shoto's body temperature to his limit immediately after it's released. After training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats, Shoto can now use this technique without significantly decreasing his body temperature.

Trivia

  • This technique was originally called Giant Ice Wall (大氷壁 Daihyōheki?) by Momo Yaoyorozu during her and Shoto's battle with Shota Aizawa. She calls it Shoto's signature move from the U.A. Sports Festival. However, when asked about the name of his move during Hero Interview Training, Shoto refers to this move as "Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall".[6]
  • Heaven Piercing Ice Wall is featured as a technique for Shoto in Jump Force.
