Summary[]

Armoured All Might - Tentacole, Froppy and Tailman

All Might continues to keep All For One occupied.

Far into the future, on a bright spring morning, Izuku reminisces about the war, and how Operation Troy was the Heroes' best shot in eventually evening the playing field against the Villains. As he clutches a stray cherry blossom petal, he recalls the climax of the ordeal, and how powerful the winds were raging at that time.

Back in the present, the war of attrition All Might is enacting with the Rewinding All For One continues, as he flies through the alleys of the city while using his "Tentacole" tentacles and "Froppy Suction Pads" to increase his mobility and make sharp turns along the buildings' walls. The retired Hero is trying to keep his sworn enemy's attention by evading, as he knows that All For One will grow bored with an endless onslaught of attacks.

All For One corners All Might

All For One pursues All Might in an alleyway.

Although he's tired and badly injured, All Might stays vigilant and arms himself with "Shoto" and "Tailman", saying that if he wants to keep inflicting tons of damage to speed up his opponent's rewinding, then he has the perfect add-on from his Armored All Might to do the job. However, the big problem with this mysterious attack is that it would need an excessive amount of energy to yield favorable results, as he can't afford to play it safe by using a normal output of it for the move. He then yells up in the sky for "Anima", a pair of robotic, bird-like drones soaring through the sky, to not let him down if he wants to pull off his big attack.

All For One then appears in front of the man, saying that he's on to him and that his stunt won't work. The Villain then spreads his arms and sends a mesh of Rivet Stab tendrils into the walls and out at the former Symbol of Peace, who barely manages to dodge and escape. All For One declares that he'll have it both ways by both killing his enemy and conserving energy, as his enemy runs into two massive vines of Rivet Stab tendrils with gargantuan heads growing out of him. All Might dives back down into the catacombs and tries to outmaneuver them, as he calls out his opponent for lying. All For One assures him that these attacks waste very little energy and uses this opportunity to get in some choice words about All Might. As he tears off the tip of the suit's "Tailman" attachment, All For One tells him that he's lost his smile, and now everyone is going to watch the former No. 1 Hero die as a helpless, sickly old man who can only imitate the strength of the youth.

Armoured All Might - Shoto

All Might freezes All For One with "Shoto".

The Villain then barrels through the building and right into the face of the older man in the blink of the eye, and slugs him right in his scarred injury, declaring that he'll snuff the light of justice out. All Might is sent tumbling down and cracks the ground into pieces, as he coughs up an alarming amount of blood. Despite the devastating blow, All Might stays strong, and uses the tentacles from "Tentacole" to trap All For One, before sticking the barrel of "Shoto" in his adversary's mouth and blasting a powerful storm of ice inside his body.

As he stares up into the stormy sky at an unknown, glistening object, All Might tells the Villain that he doesn't get it, and that even if his light were to go out, someone else will come along to pick it up and shine brightly. And once that happens, the darkness he surrounds himself with will be illuminated over time, and his once-dying star will be able to twinkle again. He then screams at All For One that because of that, he doesn't feel like he's going to lose this battle.

Warp Refraction - Navel Laser (Anime)

Can't Stop Twinkling and Invisible Girl defeat Kunieda.

Back at the parking lot grounds where Operation Troy kicked off, Kunieda had made quick work of Can't Stop Twinkling and the group of Heroes, by using his grove of specialized plants to restrain everyone and feed off their flesh and energy, including the lipids that Fat Gum needs to fuel his Fat Absorption Quirk. Although Can't Stop Twinkling is beaten and bloodied, and his Navel Laser is uncontrollable thanks to his Sparkle Belt being destroyed, Fat Gum weakly tells the student to give it everything he's got.

As the Villain marvels at his flowers growing into a more carnivorous form, he calls the former mole of the League of Villains a disgraceful traitor, while clutching the lens of the boy's ruined belt. Can't Stop Twinkling then remembers the joyous day his parents gifted him that belt and tells Kunieda that even though he constantly reminds himself of the disgrace he's been to those around him, it's now inspiring him to keep up with the light shining from his classmates, so he can truly make his own from the bottom of his heart.

Armoured All Might - Can't Stop Twinkling

"Can't Stop Twinkling" rains down on All For One.

He then charges and fires a haphazard wave of Navel Lasers, with Kunieda poking fun at them all missing him. But suddenly from behind, a partially visible Invisible Girl gathers the lasers into a large ball of light, before reflecting it back at Kunieda with pinpoint accuracy using Warp Refraction: Navel Laser, putting an end to the Villain's wrath.

At the same time, the "Anima" drones fly towards All Might's location with cables from a power station plugged into them, before speeding and inserting themselves in a hovering laser cannon. Hercules confirms that the device connection was successful and points the barrel down at the two combatants while charging up its energy. As All For One manages to overpower and crush "Shoto" with his teeth, Hercules declares that the weapon is fully charged and has locked its aim on to the Villain.

Armoured All Might - Earphone Jack

All Might makes sure All For One can't escape.

All Might cackles and tells All For One to listen out for a name that's about to burn him. Hercules then fires the big attack All Might was setting things up for: "Can't Stop Twinkling", a devastating laser beam that strikes All For One point blank and beings to scorch him violently, after All Might sacrifices the arms from "Tentacole" to hit the deck at the last possible moment. However, the strain from the excess power causes "Can't Stop Twinkling" to start malfunctioning, and Hercules tells All Might that the bombardment can't be kept up for much longer.

All Might tells it to keep firing, so the Villain won't crawl out of the attack, as the heat from the beam begins melting the nearby buildings. While the man is trying to pull off a strategy similar to Star and Stripe's Keraunos, he doesn't have the power to solidify and apply nonstop pressure with the laser. As a compromise, he sends out a funnel of enhanced sound waves to keep All For One still using "Sound Wave Vibration: Earphone Jack", while relying on the Armored All Might's specialized resin coating, "Invisible Girl", to stand up to the intense heat of the radiation.

A Boy in Another Country Watches All Might's Final Battle

A boy in another country watches All Might's final battle.

Although the grand plan is holding up, the setup cost him "Tailman", which he used to block the punch to his midsection, and both of his legs. Suddenly, All For One smacks him away with some Rivet Stab tendrils as he begins to crawl out of the blast zone. All Might calls for "Armor Morphing: Creati", as the right arm of his suit detaches and morphs into "Binding Rounds: Grape Juice". The man tosses the balls towards All For One, which then unfurl and clip the Villain's hands to the pavement.

As the whole world watches the video feed, a boy in another country asks his grandmother who the "skinny man in the metal suit" on the television is. The old woman tells her grandson that she has no idea, since she doesn't really keep up with Heroes. The boy then asks what will happen if All Might wins or loses, and the woman says she wouldn't know, and it isn't really their business since the fight's taking place far away from them. While the boy accepts his grandparent's answer, he keeps staring at the image of the battered All Might onscreen, as he clutches his hands together.

All For One swats Toshinori like a fly

All For One glows and swats All Might away.

Back in Japan, Hercules tells All Might that the machine can't take it anymore before exploding, putting an end to "Can't Stop Twinkling". As expected, All For One crawls out of the crater's center, now younger and glowing a dull, yellow-orange. All Might wastes no time and rushes forward, as All For One tells the man he's forgetting to smile, and fires an Air Cannon towards his enemy. As the battered man dodges the blast, All For One propels himself forward in a flash using a yellow ring of energy, before gleefully backhanding All Might with a ballooned right arm and sending the Hero into the edge of the crater.

As All Might attempts to recover, All For One tells him that's he now lost everything at this point, and all he can do now is pathetically crawl on the ground while his pain and agony eats away at him. All For One then sprouts a growth out of his right shoulder, which blossoms into a bushel of jagged spikes, as the now young boy prepares to make a mess out of All Might, just like he did to him before.

Stain joins All Might's fight

Stain flies in to assist All Might.

As he steps forward, All For One then stops and shudders, and realizes he can't get his body to move. Up from above, the Hero Killer: Stain looms over the Villain on a mechanical glider, while licking All For One's blood off a chunk of concrete to trigger Bloodcurdle. All Might smiles and begins to take off as he realizes what's going on, as Stain enters the fight and cheers for All Might to take their newly shared opponent down.

As the fight with All For One enters a new phase, the situation with Kunieda beings to wind down as Invisible Girl pins down the burnt Villain. Can't Stop Twinkling then notices that his classmate has turned almost completely opaque, which makes the girl freak out and hide. The boy apologizes for seeing her completely exposed, as he was too hurt and exhausted to react appropriately.

Toru embarrassingly yells at Yuga to look away

Invisible Girl becomes visible after her Quirk glitches out.

Invisible Girl then remembers that a similar thing happened to her back when she figured out her classmate was the U.A. Traitor, and realizes that her Quirk glitching out was caused by Navel Laser awakening and overcoming its limits due to the stress of the life-or-death situation. Invisible Girl congratulates the boy on his Quirk getting stronger, but Can't Stop Twinkling asks her to pay no mind to that, as they're not out of the woods yet on the battlefield.

He explains that they need to burn all the plants created by Kunieda, as while they won't grow anymore, their roots will still feed off their victims. Can't Stop Twinkling asks his classmate to help aim his laser to burn away the flowers at the roots like she did with him, which prompts her to question if the boy's stomach is okay. He doesn't answer and simply smiles while looking up at the stormy sky, declaring that today will be his last as a student of U.A. High School.

Anime & Manga Differences[]

  • The anime starts with Chapter 377's prologue, which originally framed the moment where Sad Man's Death Parade was activated, Tomura regained control of his body, and the Coffin of the Sky went offline.
    • With the visuals showing the lone hand failing to catch a floating petal in the cherry tree forest clearing, the anime makes a clearer distinction that it belongs to All Might, with its design and it being followed up by a short scene of a grown-up Izuku's hand catching the same petal in his stead.
  • The battle between All Might and All For One is extended in the anime, and features some slight alterations of the event:
    • When All Might is flying away from All For One's transformed heads, the anime shows All Might spotting one of Hercules' cameras in the air, foreshadowing the eventual use of "Can't Stop Twinkling".
    • When All Might sticks the barrel of "Shoto" into All For One's mouth, the anime shows him using it to freeze the Villain's head from the inside out to stall him.
    • The anime shows a clear shot of "Invisible Girl" reflecting the light off "Can't Stop Twinkling" when All Might mentions the function of the add-on.
    • When All Might activates "Creati", the anime shows the arm of his suit swelling and lighting up before instantly morphing into "Grape Juice", reflecting how the actual Creation Quirk is depicted in the anime.
    • When "Can't Stop Twinkling" explodes in the anime, it's preceded by Hercules telling All Might that the machine is worn out and about to detonate.
    • After a glowing All For One emerges from the crater made by "Can't Stop Twinkling", the anime adds a short scene of the Villain baiting All Might with an Air Cannon blast, before swiftly rushing towards and knocking the man into the dirt with an enlarged right arm.
  • Warp Refraction: Navel Laser's debut is extended in the anime.
    • The moment of Can't Stop Twinkling reacting to the exposed Invisible Girl is also moved to after Stain's appearance in the anime, while it was before in the manga.
  • In the manga, the boy who is watching All Might's fight on television has light colored hair.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode since the first half of Season 2 to only show the series logo in its eyecatchers.
  • This is the first episode that doesn't start with the opening theme which usually comes after the cold opening. Instead, the opening credits are shown during the episode, with the opening played during the end.
  • This is the second instance in which the episode title is taken from a chapter that it does not adapt, that being the one from Chapter 398, included in the previous Episode 159; the first time was Episode 41.
