Summary[]

The doctors defend the hospital

Hospital staff are working to keep patients out of harm's way.

With Spinner and his heteromorph army now inside Central Hospital, his last step in freeing Kurogiri is locating his room in the research center and playing a recording of either All For One or Tomura's voice on the device given to him by Skeptic to wake him up.

Spinner starts running to his destination, but the rest of the mob is stopped by the sight hospital staff joining hands and blocking the hallway leading to the main part of the building. This reminds them of what Tentacole said about the Heroes evacuating the Jaku General Hospital's staff before engaging with the Paranormal Liberation Front, and his inquiry about them having an actual plan to liberate heteromorphs; the rioters slowly begin dropping their weapons in disgust with what their cause and defiance has led them to do.

Shuichi excited by his achievements

"Tomura, look how many people are behind me."

Spinner continues running towards the room where Kurogiri is locked. As he does so, he thinks about how he always believed he would never amount to anything, but by following Tomura, he would become "somebody" and many people who would follow him. Eventually, Spinner makes it to Kurogiri's room, asking Tomura to see how many followers he has. But when he turns around, he finds no one else is there.

Instead, the only one who appears is Present Mic, stating that Tentacole's voice had reached the rioters and that Kurogiri is not going to be his secret weapon. Spinner then tries to wake Kurogiri up but is hit with a loud yell by the Hero, which causes him to collapse, his body to revert mostly back to normal, and the audio tape to be fried.

Present Mic defeats Spinner

Present Mic knocks down Spinner.

Several minutes before, when Present Mic began heading inside the hospital in pursuit of Spinner, Tentacole and Anima are left to try and prevent anymore members of the mob from leaking into the open hospital. One of them comes at the boy with the axe, which is then stopped by one of the rioters who dropped their weapons inside when they saw the hospital staff. The pig-faced man tells his ally that he used his anger the wrong way, which is quickly rejected by Takaie, who tells him to keep following Spinner and think about all the poor treatment they've received.

The man says he's doing just that, and the thought of it still infuriates him, but when he saw those people in the hospital standing together to protect themselves and their patients, he just couldn't follow through with the call to the action he heard countless times and assault them. The Executive tries to change his mind again and grows cross at Tentacole for softening his radicalized heteromorph meat shield. The man from before, while tearing up and clutching Tentacole's arms, asks if he was in the wrong for trying to take a stand behind Spinner instead of staying quiet about these issues.

The Rioters realize they've gone too far (Anime)

The Rioters realize they've gone too far.

Tentacole, who is also fighting off tears, tells him that his feelings, plus anyone else's, are justified, and while there's still work to do to truly liberate heteromorphs, the passion and light in their eyes should be used to change the mentality of those who hurt them without resorting to rampant force and nothing else. Finally, the boy's words reach the mob and calm them down, and Rock Lock and the Heroes use this brief respite to head inside the hospital and back up Present Mic.

Back inside the Hospital, Spinner is struggling to get up, but he can't force his body to move. All he can do is dwell on the fact he's failed his mission with nobody left to push him forward, and the fact that his drive to truly make something out of himself thanks to Stain and Tomura hasn't led anywhere in the end.

Kurogiri reawakens (Anime)

With his last strength, Spinner managed to wake up Kurogiri.

Present Mic walks up to fire another superpowered yell to take out Kurogiri, which was suggested by Eraser Head as a last resort in case the Hospital was breached by the mob. He thinks about Oboro Shirakumo and how they don't want to lose their good memories of him, preparing to finish his old friend off for good.

The second before Present Mic attacks, Spinner crawls off the ground and places the burnt hand of Nana Shimura that Tomura used to wear on his face onto Kurogiri's, which was bugged with a micro-device to awaken him as a failsafe. With his last remaining bits of strength and pushed by the memories he had with his leader, Spinner weakly tells his comrade to save Tomura and the other members of the League of Villains.

Present Mic and Kurogiri facing each other

"Kurogiri" proclaims that he is the one who will protect Tomura Shigaraki.

The Villain's last-ditch effort pulls through, and Kurogiri awakens from his medical coma and breaks out of his restraints, while Spinner is knocked out by Present Mic's Voice. "Kurogiri", with Oboro Shirakumo's face partially emerged, wastes no time in pursuing Spinner's request and his sole responsibility and activates Warp Gate.

While news outside of Japan has trouble covering the actuals events of the fighting inside the country, the drastic weather changes caused by them, such as Dabi's battle with Shoto, and Endeavor's battle with All For One, are still being reported live. After covering some of these abnormal weather phenomena, Meryl Hope, a weather reporter in the United States, asks her viewers if this superhuman society has evolved from a simple moment of a baby being born with glowing skin to an uncontainable, spiraling chaotic meltdown, since the world can change from the actions of just one person. She then bares a banner with the phrase "No AFO" on her live broadcast, despite her co-workers' pleas and the public's shock, and says that she openly opposes society's decision to bend to All For One's whims.

Dabi enters a Warp Gate

Kurogiri opens a portal so Dabi can reunite with his father.

Back in Ground Zero of Kamino Ward, Dabi decides to fly off to the Gunga Mountain Villa Ruins to face his father again, as his initial plan to take the battered body of his little brother to Endeavor isn't viable now that his body is beginning to deteriorate at a much faster rate. What would've been a lengthy flight is expedited by a sudden portal made by the recently freed "Kurogiri", which delights Dabi and frightens the other Heroes at the scene.

On Okuto Island, now that the Villain numbers are starting to consistently drop, Himiko whips out a vial of blood to try and turn the fight back in her group's favor. It is then broken by Froppy, but the tube actually contained a dose of pheromones engineered to attract the Near High-End Nomu Nomu on her team. The beast then ambushes Froppy from afar, and the water clears to find Froppy lying in the water and Himiko transformed into her.

Himiko transforms into Twice

Himiko manages to transform into Twice and use his powers.

She then ingests another tube of blood and transforms into Twice, now giving her access to Double and to his country-levelling Sad Man's Parade. Just as she began to clone herself and take back Okuto Island for her side, "Kurogiri" appears and asks what she wants to do.

The transformed Himiko tells him that she wants to kill all the Heroes, starting with Hawks as her first victim, to avenge Twice. Telling him that she wants to scatter her Doubles everywhere, Himiko disappears into "Kurogiri's" body, as Uravity tries to pursue and stop her. She says they never got the chance to talk about romance with each other, as Himiko sadly says she wishes they could before being fully teleported away.

Sad Man's Death Parade (Anime)

Himiko unleashes Sad Man's Death Parade on the Heroes.

Dabi is warped straight to the Ruins and just above Endeavor's position and is joined by a massive horde of Twice Doubles spilling out of another portal near Hawks. All For One grimily tells the Hero to look at the scene behind him, as the man's worst fear in the first War has now been given life again: Twice's Ultimate Move, now upgraded into Sad Man's Death Parade, has now been set loose. Hawks yells for the other Heroes to kill the clones immediately, but to his realized horror, Sad Man's Death Parade swallows up most of the Ruins in just a few seconds.

A similar situation starts at the Coffin in the Sky, as "Kurogiri" himself with Present Mic inside his body warps behind Eraser Head, Phantom Thief, and Manual. While things were starting to look bright for the Heroes at first, just like Dabi told Himiko back when he gave her Twice's blood, the Villains are beginning to have the last laugh.

Anime & Manga Differences[]

  • The anime shows Present Mic running into the hospital in pursuit of Spinner, before leaving Tentacole and the others to handle things outside. In the manga, it's only mentioned in an offhand speech bubble.
  • In the manga, Present Mic is running towards Kurogiri as he's charging his attack and isn't implied to have noticed Spinner getting up to block him. In the anime, he walks slowly before Spinner gets up and runs.
  • Meryl's debut is expanded in the anime, which features an anime original scene of her holding a "No AFO" sign.
  • Before Dabi is teleported, the anime adds a brief shot of him and the Heroes reacting to "Kurogiri's" sudden appearance.
  • In the manga, Himiko first uses "Sad Man's Parade" when unleashing the Doubles, but in the anime, she uses "Sad Man's Death Parade", which she does in the manga later.
