Summary[]

Izuku uses Blackwhip to sling to the side of the jet

Deku receives help from Star and Stripe's squadron to reach his destination.

Deku's eventual arrival to his designated battlefield was thanks to the objects that were flying to him while he was traversing the ocean: Ethan Drive and his brigade of X-66 fighter jets. While he and his squad were assigned as an anti-aircraft defense for the Coffin in the Sky, the pilots broke formation to offer Deku a ride to his destination, which he accepts and takes advantage of by using Blackwhip to latch and fling himself from plane to plane while they all fly at top speed.

Before Deku could leave Ethan's plane, the captain wishes him good luck in his fight with Tomura, saying he and his men are already ignoring orders from the United States to retreat in favor of staying here to help, as Star and Stripe bet everything on the Heroes of Japan to see this situation through to the end.

Izuku rages after seeing the state of Katsuki

Deku loses his composure upon witnessing the destruction in his absence.

When Deku finally arrives, and the barrier is reactivated, he freezes shortly after asking Lemillion to get him caught up on the current situation, once he sees Dynamight's body, and all the other Heroes blooded and beaten into the ground by "Tomura". The Villain scolds Deku for trying to make excuses being late to their fight, thanks to what he correctly assumes is an intervention by Himiko. The boy then begins to have an episode much like their last encounter in the Paranormal Liberation War, as Full Cowl's power begins spiking and massive amounts of smoke and Blackwhip tendrils begin pouring out of his body.

"Tomura" is relishing in this development, as he expects his opponent to grow simple and predictable just like before when he stabbed Dynamight. Before he can rile up Deku further, Lemillion wades through the massive amounts of smoke and grabs his underclassman by the shoulders. He reminds Deku that "Tomura" is trying to aggravate him on purpose in order to make him more vulnerable in battle, and says that everyone else is still alive, with Edgeshot working as hard as he can to save Dynamight's life.

Mirio tries to calm Izuku down (Anime)

Lemillion prevents Deku from going berserk.

"Tomura" writes off Lemillion's words as empty lip service, which the boy refutes by saying Heroes work hard to make things like that become reality. Thinking back to a similar statement made by All Might, Ethan's parting words to him, and what Daigoro told him about controlling his anger and heart in the pursuit of greater strength, Deku snaps out his rage and shuts down all his active Quirks. He apologizes to Lemillion for his outburst, as the other boy confidently tells his underclassman to do that after they've won.

With his emotions now in check, Deku turns back to "Tomura" and reactivates Full Cowl and creates a thick bog of smoke and a coil of Blackwhip tendrils around his neck which snake through his fingers. As all the vestiges of the previous users, barring Yoichi, gaze at the culmination of their sworn enemy, Deku asks All For One if Tomura is still somewhere inside that body.

Tomura asures he is a new being

"He" assures Tomura and All For One have fully merged into a new being.

"Tomura" assures Deku that he isn't, despite signs of Tenko's nature previously and currently fighting through the melded consciousness, as pointed out by Lemillion when he accidentally caused the Villain to devolve into a temper tantrum. "Tomura" tells Deku that regardless of what he's planning or how he wants to approach this fight, he shouldn't think about working towards a happy ending for himself.

Nana's vestige tells Deku that her grandson is still in there, after she noticed one of the fingers on "Tomura's" deformed left arm, the one that resembles Kotaro, was peering back at her. "Tomura" then leaps up, with enough force to crack the ground below him and tilt the Coffin on its axis. He tells Deku that he doesn't care about anything he says, and states that he's coming to take back his little brother.

Blackchain (Anime)

Deku launches "Tomura" with Blackchain.

He dives down and punches Deku with his ginormous left fist, with the shockwave dislodging several of the metallic cubes lining the ground and sending them flying into the air. Deku, who blocked the punch with his arms, tells "Tomura" to prepare himself since he's not getting a happy ending either.

Using a combination of Blackwhip with the kinetic energy of Fa Jin stored inside, he wraps "Tomura's" deformed arm with Blackchain and sends the Villain soaring through the air and into the swarm of metal cubes. "Tomura" regains his footing on one of them and flinches as he starts deriding Deku for how predictable and weak that attack was, barely spotting the boy crouching on another cube in a peculiar combat stance.

Transmission (Anime)

Deku sends "Tomura" flying upward.

The Second User warns Deku that if he goes through with this next move and doesn't defeat him within the next five minutes, then the world will fall. Deku doesn't waver and tells "Tomura" that he's going to stop him. Deku then uses the Second User's Quirk, and the final power revealed to be stored inside the core of One For All: Gearshift, an ability that allows its user to change the movement speed of anything they touch on a cellular level, while ignoring the law of inertia. He activates Transmission and suddenly appears in front of "Tomura", before he punches the man in the stomach at three "gears" of increasing speed, all of which are fast enough to break the sound barrier on impact.

The attack is able to cut through "Tomura's" boosted defenses, as the Villain soars into the air while vomiting a stream of blood. He starts to panic as he's unable to track Deku's blinding movements and soon recognizes that his adversary is using the power of the Second User's Quirk.

Detroit Smash Quintuple (Anime)

Deku hits "Tomura" with Detroit Smash: Quintuple.

From below, using a combination of Gearshift and Fa Jin, Izuku uses Overdrive and easily overtakes "Tomura" in the air, and begins plummeting down to hit the Villain with another Ultimate Move. Thanks to the raw strength cultivated by the passing of One For All, Gearshift's power has been supercharged compared to its original state, allowing Deku to shatter his physical limits and attack with the force equivalent to using One For All at 120%.

With a mighty roar, Deku brutalizes "Tomura" with a 120% Detroit Smash and send the Villain back to the ground. As the attack finishes, Yoichi tells All For One through the vestige world that they should end their generational fight against each other right now. His older brother is shocked at the current power of Gearshift, as back during his last fight with the Second User before killing him, it was a paltry Quirk that could only be used on small objects. Simultaneously, "Tomura" starts growing confused at the fact that he can now see both Yoichi and the Second User's vestiges.

All For One's vestige begins to be affected by the blows

All For One's vestige begins to be affected by the blows.

Deku doesn't give "Tomura" time to recover and pursues the Villain to hit him with a Detroit Smash: Quintuple. "Tomura" then takes an anticipatory swing at Deku, after predicting the angle and timing of his next attack but is thwarted by Deku shifting into "Low Gear" to slow down his movements. Deku then keeps "Tomura" on the ropes with Danger Sense, Smokescreen, Float, and Blackwhip, in order to stall for Gearshift's cool-down time so he can use Overdrive again.

By using everything in his arsenal, Deku has gained complete control over the fight and has mastered everything he can about One For All as a Quirk up to now. With another powerful clash of punches between the two, the Hero manages to shred through "Tomura's" giant left arm and slug the Villain in the torso. As the Villain begins to fall, Yoichi tells Deku that he can see his brother in the hole he just made. He confirms Lemillion's story to Deku and sees the fused vestige of his older brother doubling over and fighting itself inside the core of All For One. The Second User tells Deku to stay focused and reminds him of the conversation he had with Nana about killing or saving her grandson when they would face each other in the future.

Tomura undergoes another transformation

"Tomura" is still not finished.

"Tomura" grows furious at being defeated by Deku at his full power, while he is unable to tap into his body's true power due to Eraserhead and Phantom Thief constantly nullifying his Quirks and the U.A. Coffin. As he screams while a large ball of flesh begins pushing itself out of the hole Deku made in his torso, the Heroes stay vigilant for whatever else All For One has in store for them, both at U.A. and the climatic battles elsewhere.

Meanwhile, on another front, the monstrous Spinner continues to stomp his way toward Central Hospital.

Anime & Manga Differences[]

  • The anime shows Deku propelling himself to the Coffin in the Sky by using Blackwhip on the other fighter jets, which was only alluded to in the manga.
  • In the manga, Deku is shown binding "Tomura" with Blackwhip before hitting him with his opening attack. This is absent in the anime, as it repurposes the extended footage of the scene from the previous episode.
  • When "Tomura" jumps and tilts the Coffin, the anime adds a brief scene of Eraser Head telling Phantom Thief to keep his eyes open.
  • The anime extends Deku's buildup to using his 120% Detroit Smash on "Tomura". The monologue made by the Second User also happens just before "Tomura" is hit, instead of being carried throughout the whole scene.
  • When Deku explains how he's using all the Quirks to fight "Tomura", the anime interlaces it with shots of him using them with each corresponding user pictured.
  • The anime plays a flashback of Nana's conversation with Deku in Central Hospital when the Second User tells him to keep it in mind.
