A Quiet Beginning (静かな始まり Shizukana Hajimari?) is the one hundred and fourteenth episode of the My Hero Academia anime and the first episode of the sixth season.
Summary[]
One month prior to the events of the incoming War, Hawks continues his duty as a double agent infiltrating the newly formed Paranormal Liberation Front for the Hero Public Safety Commission, having just recently received the tip of "hospital". While speaking with members of the "Carmine Regiment", he is approached by Twice asking for advice.
Due to Spinner and Mr. Compress being busy with meetings with Re-Destro's group, Dabi and Giran not caring, and Himiko being too cute for him to ask, he wants to know what he should say in regards to their "credo". He mentions being lectured by Sanctum about how there are many in the Liberation Army who still don't trust the League of Villains and want to hear the "credo" directly from them, so he desperately asks Hawks for help.
Hawks thinks about how the Paranormal Liberation Front has been split up into regiments with League and Liberation Army members each assigned as the leaders to individual units. Twice leads the "Black Regiment", Dabi and Geten the "Violet Regiment", Himiko and Skeptic the "Carmine Regiment", and Spinner and Mr. Compress the "Brown Regiment". He continues that the numbers and power these groups possess outclass most of the Pro Heroes, and that if they were to attack, they would win.
Due to being constantly surveyed by the microchips in his wings, he has only been able to learn as much as he has due to his negotiation skills taught to him by the Commission. He was able to learn the hostility the members had toward the current system, and that their ultimate goal is the destruction of Heroes. They plan to attack all the cities in the country at once, preventing them from functioning, allowing Re-Destro and the Hearts and Mind Party to take control on the political side, distributing weapons and promoting self-defense, creating a world of chaos with Tomura Shigaraki at the top; the second coming of All For One.
Hawks tells Twice to simply speak about individual's freedom and more current system's to be destroyed, as well as mentioning devotion to Re-Destro since it was his bloodline that initially brought everyone together. As he walks off, Twice turns to Hawks thanking him for always being nice to him, calling him a good guy. Hawks continues to think about how when he heard that Twice had overcome his trauma, he feared the worse, as now thanks to the potential of his Double Quirk, he became the one to fear more than anyone else.
He recalls back to sometime shortly before when he was tutoring Twice on what to know about the Liberation Army. He asks why he knows so much about it if he's a Hero, leading him to explain that he relates to it due to feeling so restricted and wanting to fly freely. Twice laments on wanting Hawks to see Tomura, with him asking why he hasn't been able to see him yet, leading Twice to tell him that he's busy getting stronger in the mountains in Kyoto over the next four months. Twice knows the information is supposed to be off the record, with Skeptic still surveilling Hawks, but he doesn't consider it a problem due to how hard he's working to help them, believing that no one working to help their buddies is a bad guy. Hawks smiles back, happy for Twice's good naturedness.
In the present, a group of Pro Heroes meet at the Police Force HQ, and profile Doctor Kyudai Garaki, a Quirkless man and founder of the Jaku General Hospital, renowned for his Quirk-based medical care, philanthropic work, and running various orphanages and nursing homes throughout the country. However secretly, he was actually All For One's right-hand man and the creator of the Nomu. The Heroes ask how they know it's him, as Naomasa Tsukauchi explains they had an operative go undercover after receiving a tip from the Safety Commission, discovering a restricted area only he can access, and managing to take a picture of him with a tiny Nomu.
They mention how it wouldn't be hard to arrest Kyudai, however if they act too rashly, the Paranormal Liberation Front will retaliate, which will result in destruction and devastation they want to avoid after the Hosu and Kamino Incidents. To combat this, they will be deploying all of their forces. They plan to split the Heroes up into two primary teams, Team Endeavor which will secure Kyudai at the Jaku Hospital, and Team Edgeshot, which will storm the Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's hideout, and have them happen simultaneously. In addition, they intend to deploy U.A. High School students as logistical support in the rear guard for both teams. Even despite the resistance they expect to face, they declare they'll take the Paranormal Liberation Front out in one sweep.
At the Gunga Mountain Villa, Team Edgeshot awaits in the distance for their orders, aware the Front are currently holding their meeting. They know that one of their operatives possesses a Warping ability, and that they're at the hospital, so they intend to remove them from play to prevent them from escaping. Shemage wonders if it's okay for them to be there, considering the League's history with attacking U.A., leading Midnight to explain that they've become too big, and they've reached the point where everyone will be in danger. She holds Shemage's hands, telling her not to worry as they only want their help at the beginning and will send them to the rear right after. At the same time, Chargebolt exclaims to himself why he is at the front, yelling that he misses everyone.
At the rear guard, Creati explains to the Class 1-A and 1-B students how Chargebolt, Tsukuyomi, Shemage, and Mudman all have Quirks that are good for wide-range attacks, meaning they sent them to the front to help decrease their numbers as much as possible in their surprise attack. Grape Juice wonders if they'll be okay, while Pinky and Invisible Girl declare they're great Heroes and will be fine. At the Police HQ, Endeavor asks if "he" was the one who narrowed down the right hospital, and what he's doing, but Naomasa simply says it's classified. Endeavor thinks about how he prepared just as Hawks told him to, as they prepare to head out.
Sometime later, a group of civilians wonder why there aren't any Heroes around, when they spot Slidin' Go patrolling the area, wondering the same thing. He's suddenly captured by Death Arms, gleefully telling the Liberation traitor that they were the only ones who didn't know the truth. On the outskirts of Jaku City with the rear guard of Team Endeavor, Bakugo complains about being in the back, arguing with Shoto and Ingenium, while Deku talks to his classmates about needing to focus on their missions for coordination. Burnin receives word that the front line has started to move, commanding the rest of the Heroes to head out into the city to evacuate the civilians.
At the Jaku General Hospital, the Pro Heroes storm the building to everyone's confusion. Endeavor tells Mirko to head to the morgue, while Mandalay uses her Quirk to tell all the civilians to evacuate. Kyudai meanwhile gleefully thinks to himself that progress on Tomura is going smoothly and that he will be complete in a little over a month. Suddenly, he's confronted by Endeavor and the Pro Heroes, causing him to scream out in fear as he tells the "pawn of the Devil" to accept his fate. Elsewhere, Fuyumi and Natsuo Todoroki head out as the former mentions how their father contacted her to say he won't be able to talk for a while due to work. Natsuo thinks back to Endeavor's battle in Fukuoka, hoping things don't turn out like that.
Kyudai attempts to flee but is restrained by Eraser Head's Capturing Weapon. He proceeds to use his Erasure on him, causing his body to rapidly de-age and grow more decrypted. The Heroes realize that Kyudai in fact had a Quirk the entire time, with Naomasa realizing that it is the secret to All For One's long life. He further theorizes that since the Super Regeneration that the black Nomu are equipped with is a rare Quirk it is one that he managed to reproduce and artificially create, and offered the technology to All For One.
Present Mic confronts the Doctor, demanding to know why he used his brilliant science for such terrible actions, thinking about what he did to Oboro. A group of doctors appear to try and defend Kyudai, but they are escorted out by Naomasa. Eraser Head confronts Kyudai next, telling him the Heroes are evacuating the civilians in preparation for fighting the Nomu, aware they only respond under certain instructions and are just corpses without them. Thinking about Oboro, Eraser Head declares that just as he toyed with and took from other people, it's their turn to take from him.
Meanwhile, at the Police HQ Message Control Center, they report in that Team Endeavor has infiltrated the Hospital and have captured Kyudai and that Team Edgeshot are approaching the Villa. While Kyudai begs the Heroes for forgiveness, Mirko busts her way through toward the morgue, warning Endeavor as she comes across a hoard of Nomu in her path.
Just then, a drill Nomu suddenly emerges from the floor, stabbing itself directly into Kyudai, revealing him to merely be a Twice Double. As he fades away, he comments that knowing Doubles don't disappear when Erasure is used on them is good to know, mocking the Heroes by saying they should've been wary if they knew about his duplication. The drill Nomu proceeds to attack the Heroes, but Endeavor stops it with his fire, all the while more Nomu begin to appear in the hospital.
Below the hospital, the real Kyudai comments how he has been so absorbed in Tomura's process he left everything to his Double, but now that the Heroes have found them he needs to take action. He doesn't want to abandon the hospital, due to the vast array of Quirk duplicates he has been able to cultivate, his collection of High-End Nomu, and all the memories he shared with All For One but is left with no choice. Grabbing several containers, he runs toward Johnny, telling him to Warp him and Tomura immediately, however Mirko, who had just effortlessly busted through the Nomu in her way, breaks into the laboratory, completely crushing Johnny and destroying several canisters. Kyudai screams out in fear as Mirko asks if he is the real one.
