Detroit Smash (デトロイトスマッシュ Detoroito Sumasshu?) is an Ultimate Move performed by All Might, Izuku Midoriya, and Katsuki Bakugo using the One For All Quirk.

Description[]

Detroit Smash is All Might's signature move that Izuku later mimics after inheriting One For All. The move is a simple punch focusing One For All's stockpiling power into the fist. All Might's punches at 100% are capable of creating wind pressure so powerful that it can change the weather.[1]

All Might first uses this technique to save Izuku and Katsuki from the Sludge Villain.[1] Izuku first uses this technique at 100% in the Battle Trial,[2] before dialing it down to 5% against Stain.[3] Izuku would later use this again during the Quirk Training Camp while training with Tiger.[4] Katsuki, while temporarily empowered by One For All, uses this technique in conjunction with Izuku by forming an uppercut while creating a beam of air pressure to dispel a thunderstorm created by Nine.[5]

All Might, back at his time studying abroad in America, used this move as a straight forward punch when he was in mid-air to create wind pressure redirecting missiles to make them collide with each other.[6]

During All Might's rematch with All For One, All Might used this move to cancel out All For One's Springlike Limbs-enhanced Air Cannon while moving Gran Torino out of the way.[7]

During the battle against Humarise, Izuku use this move against Flect Turn to punch him away towards the ceiling.[8]

During the Paranormal Liberation War, Izuku uses this move at 100% of his power while battling Tomura.[9]

Izuku later uses this move, using 45% of his power, while battling with Muscular, during their second fight.[10]

During the second fight against Dark Might, Izuku uses this against the villain's own Torino Smash. He later used this technique when he launched a barrage of his other smashes at Dark Might.[11]

During the Final War, Izuku uses his newly acquired Gearshift Quirk to perform a powerful Overdrive-enhanced Detroit Smash against Tomura,[12] and soon after, Detroit Smash: Quintuple; five Detroit Smashes in quick succession.[13]

Variations[]

5% Detroit Smash (5% デトロイトスマッシュ Go Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu?): With Full Cowl active, Izuku delivers a Quirk-enhanced punch directly to his opponent.[4][14] Izuku first used this technique in the air and hit Stain with a downwards punch.[3]
100% Detroit Smash (100% デトロイトスマッシュ Hyaku Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu?): Izuku activates One For All at 100% and delivers a straightforward lunging punch to the opponent. He first used this at the training camp he participated in to save Kota Izumi from Muscular.[15]
Double Detroit Smash (ダブルデトロイトスマッシュ Daburu Detoroito Sumasshu?): Izuku and All Might combine their Detroit Smashes into a single, devastating charge. They performed this final attack against Wolfram, shattering through a humongous chunk of metal controlled by his Metal Manipulation Quirk and causing a huge explosion that destroyed Izuku's Full Gauntlet.[6]
Detroit Smash: Quintuple (デトロイトスマッシュ (クイン) (ティプル) Detoroito Sumasshu Kuintipuru?): Izuku enhances himself with Gearshift and performs five Detroit Smashes in quick succession.[13]
