History

Young Toya eager to learn his father's technique.

Seeking to have a child capable of surpassing All Might, Enji Todoroki agreed to a Quirk marriage with Rei Himura. When he was 22 years old, his first child, Toya Todoroki, was born. Although he did not inherit a composite Quirk from his parents, Toya was born with a fire Quirk more powerful than Enji's own Hellflame, so when the time came, his father would train him. Later that year, his sister Fuyumi Todoroki was born but she only inherited her mother's Frost Quirk.

From a young age, Toya was constantly trained by his father and the young boy was actually quite eager to learn all his father's moves so that he could one day become a great hero. Although none of his children bore the ideal Quirk he was hoping for, Enji was satisfied with Toya and saw him as capable of surpassing All Might with his powerful Fire Quirk alone, so he placed all his ambitions on his shoulders.

The situation changed drastically however as Toya's red hair began to turn white and his body suffered burns every time he used his Quirk. Enji and Rei went to see a Quirk doctor to find out what was wrong with him. The doctor explained that while Toya had inherited a powerful fire based Quirk from his father, he also inherited his mother's resistance to freezing cold, rather than his father's resistance to scorching heat, meaning that he would burn himself whenever he used his flames. Because of this, Toya was limited in how far he could safely push himself with his Quirk.

Enji tells Toya that he can't train for his sake.

Enji deemed him a failure and suddenly stopped training him. Toya, despite the dangerous flaw in his Quirk, still longed to be a Hero when he grew up. He begged and nagged at his father to continue training him, but Enji refused, saying that it was for the sake of his well-being, but Toya wasn't pleased. Later, he talked with his sister Fuyumi and told her that he can tolerate the pain and burns, but little Fuyumi told Toya that she was also worried about him getting hurt. Her words offended Toya, who yelled that she doesn't understand him because she is a girl and walked off, saying that his father was the one who lit the fire under him to surpass All Might.

Toya began training on his own, despite his father and sister trying to convince him to stop. Enji lamented that his son also inherited his stubbornness and decided to have more children until conceiving a suitable successor to his ambitions. Rei said that his idea was too cruel, especially with Toya knowing what he wanted to achieve through their children, and pleaded with her husband to let Toya have hope for his dream, but Enji believed it was the only way to make Toya give up on his obsession, as he could never surpass All Might.

Despair is reflected in Toya when Shoto is born.

The years passed, and Enji and Rei had more children. This would ultimately lead to Natsuo's conception, which made Toya start falling into despair while Endeavor's desire to surpass All Might continued to grow. Eventually, Shoto Todoroki was born, having inherited a perfect combination of both his parents' Quirks. Enji had finally conceived the much desired heir he was seeking, but Toya had reached his breaking point, as Shoto's birth implied that his entire purpose and his father's attention had been taken away from him. However, Toya was still determined to fulfill his father's dream and refused to abandon it. He continued training on his own and burning himself, eventually he started going to Sekoto Peak where his father used to train.

Enji told Toya to stop training because he was hurting himself and told him to look beyond the world of being a hero and do things like play with his siblings or make friends at school, saying he can understand that and one day it will all be a distant memory. Toya, however, with tears flowing from his eyes, told his father that everyone at school wants to be heroes themselves, and he couldn't understand what it is like to give up because he has him as a father. Enji lit the fire in him to surpass All Might and it was not going out, just as he calls him by his hero name rather than "father".

Their argument drew Rei and the rest of the children to where they were. Broken down, Toya told his father to look at him, as he violently lashed out with his flames activated at his mother carrying an infant Shoto, attempting to harm his youngest brother. He was stopped before he could hurt anyone, but after Toya's outburst, Enji decided to ban the other siblings from interacting with Shoto so he can focus on his training and ordered Rei to watch over Toya. When Rei said that all Toya wanted was for his father to acknowledge him, Enji replied that all he can show anyone is the world of heroes, to which Rei scathingly replied that he is just running away from his problems.

Toya rants about their father to Natsuo.

During the following years, Toya developed an excellent relationship with his siblings, often joining them to play together in the garden. This was especially true regarding his brother, Natsuo. However, they were raised separately from their youngest brother, Shoto. Likewise, his father's rejection and abandonment of him had a severe impact on Toya, and many times he would go to Natsuo with tears in his eyes, questioning why he even existed.

Five years had passed since the incident, and Enji decided to train Shoto, preventing him from playing with his older siblings despite his begging. A 13 year old Toya witnessed them, and glared at the two of them hatefully. Later that night, he confided in Natsuo his inner doubts, acknowledging it was his fault for attacking Shoto, who did nothing wrong, but rants about his feelings towards their father and how he considers the rest of his children as "failed creations", wondering whether the only thing heroes did was make children and discard them when they didn't need them. Natsuo, however, just wanted to sleep, and suggested Toya talk to Fuyumi once in a while. Toya was hurt by the implication that Natsuo was brushing him off as well, pleading with his brother that he's the only one who can understand him and saying that the women in their family were good for nothing.

One day, when he was preparing to go to train at Sekoto Peak, Rei tried to dissuade him and make him consider whether or not he really wanted to be a hero, saying that he only seemed interested in following his father's goal and assuring him that there are more options than the world of heroes. Toya was infuriated by his mother's words, yelling at her and asking if she had been reading any self-help books lately. His anger shocked Rei as he continued his rant, shouting that he knows her parents sold her and she had no choice but to marry Enji, but blames her as well for giving birth to him in the first place. Toya's outburst shook Rei so much that she did nothing to stop him.

Toya continued to train at Sekoto Peak, and during the winter season, around the time he had a growth spurt, his Quirk developed, and his flames' color changed from red to blue. Toya discovered that his flames are linked to his emotional state and would get stronger if he was riled up. He started crying while saying he doesn't know why he does when he gets worked up. Shortly afterwards, excited to show his father how he had developed, Toya asked him to come to Sekoto Peak the next time he had a day off. Enji, however, pulled up his shirt and saw new burns covering his torso, angry that Toya had been training again, but his son was adamant that he was destined for greatness and determined to make his father proud of him. Frustrated, Enji ignored his eldest son's pleas and hit Rei for not stopping him, shouting that Toya was her problem now and he was done dealing with him.

Toya is engulfed by his own flames.

Sometime later, Toya waited at Sekoto Peak for his father to meet him, but Endeavor never showed up, much to Toya's disappointment and anguish. The emotional turmoil he felt caused him to lose control of his flames, resulting in a massive wildfire. Toya tried to save himself, but he didn't know how to quell his flames, as his father only ever taught him how to increase the heat. He was scorched with flames exceeding 2,000 degrees Celsius: his body was believed to have been incinerated, and the only thing that was found was a part of his jawbone.

His "death" affected his family, especially his mother Rei, whose mental state had already been harshly affected by her husband's past abuse, and his brother Natsuo, who still considers his father responsible for Toya's demise. Toya's family installed a Butsudan Buddhist altar in his former room after his supposed passing and still send their prayers to him. Even Enji is seen praying at it, saying that he regrets the loss of his eldest son.

However, Toya did not die and jumped into a nearby lake to desperately calm the flames, not wanting to die before showing his father what he can do. He managed to survive, but he was left with severe degree of burns all over his body, and was subsequently found and taken in by All For One. Comatose for three years, Toya woke up to find himself alive in a nursery, with several accompanying children surprised to see him awake. Toya was further shocked to learn how long he was unresponsive, including his now changed voice, and only wanted to return home.

Resigned to his fate, Toya accepted his "death" and was reborn as "Dabi".

However, one of the attendants at the nursery tells him he can't, since he lives with everyone else now, and they'll be his new family. Toya is outraged, especially because he wanted to reconcile with his family and apologize for everything he said and did. Despite this, All For One, in a monitor, tells him his hope is in vain, stating that his body was too damaged and all the missing pieces had to be replaced with regenerative tissues. He further explains he'll be unable to utilize the power he once had, with all his organs damaged, body debilitated, and nerve senses all dulled, rendering him unable to feel pain. All For One considered Toya a "failure", causing him to recoil in pain at those words.

Devastated by his condition, All For One still suggested he allow them to raise him to return his fire, but Toya bluntly refused to be trained by anyone else other than his father, and ran away from the nursery after setting it alight. He returned home, only to discover that his family thought he was dead, and finding that his father was continuing his abuse and training toward Shoto. Seeing his father continue with his "perfect creation" and how his broken family moved on from him, Toya was reminded of his status as a "failure" and became mentally broken. Resigned to his fate, Toya decided to embrace his "death", allowing himself to be reborn with a new purpose, rechristening himself as Dabi.

According to Kyudai Garaki, he was only expected to live no more than a month following his awakening from the coma, but his grudge against his father kept him alive and going. As the years passed by, and after dyeing his hair black to hide his true identity, Dabi secretly observed his father's actions from afar, studying his moves to make himself stronger, while also allowing his hatred to grow with every bit of praise and attention Endeavor would continue to receive. Accepting his newfound life as a villain, Dabi slowly plotted a plan to ruin Enji's life by destroying his hero career.

Synopsis

Vs. Hero Killer Arc

Dabi watches a public broadcast about the news of the Hero Killer's capture. Inspired by Stain's ideology, Dabi decides to move towards the organization that was widely believed to harbor Stain's cause: the League of Villains.

Final Exams Arc

Kurogiri stops the fight.

Giran brings Dabi and Himiko Toga to the League of Villains hideout. Dabi comments that the group's leader, Tomura Shigaraki, is gross looking. Tomura is displeased with the recruits and immediately asks Kurogiri to remove them. Kurogiri refuses and Giran introduces Dabi as a criminal who has not done any flashy crimes but follows Stain's ideology. Dabi says he is unsure about the league's motivations and asks if they would really let a crazy girl like Himiko join.

Tomura remarks that she introduced herself and asks Dabi for his name, but he says he will only reveal it at a later time. Dabi goes on to say he will make the Hero Killer's will a reality. Tomura becomes wildly irritated by Dabi and Himiko's comments about Stain, enough so to attack them. Dabi and Himiko prepare to defend themselves, but Kurogiri steps in and uses his Quirk to stop them from coming to blows. Tomura storms off as Dabi complains about his attitude. Kurogiri asks Giran and the recruits to wait for a proper answer at a later date.

Forest Training Camp Arc

Dabi prepares the Vanguard Action Squad for their mission.

Dabi is eventually recruited into the League of Villains and assigned to lead a team of elite villains called the Vanguard Action Squad. Tomura acquires equipment for the team and has them pick it up at an unknown warehouse location.

Himiko announces there is enough gear for everyone and they should bring it along on their mission. Muscular adds they need to hurry up, but Mustard disagrees because the team has been ordered not to rush or do anything too flashy. Dabi agrees and says that Tomura acted like a brat and attacking when they first met, but now he's suddenly taking charge. Dabi proclaims that their mission will be a warning shot that will tear down false heroes from their shining pedestals and drag them back to earth in order to create a new future for the world.

The Vanguard Action Squad arrives at the Training Camp.

The next day, Dabi and six other villains secretly arrive on the Wild, Wild Pussycats' forest reserve where U.A. High School students are training. The Vanguard Action squad observes the campsite from a high vantage point. The members of the group start to argue about their next move, so Dabi tells them all to shut up. He goes on to say that Tomura was foolish for trying to attack the U.S.J. with a band of low-level thugs and that it's much better to use a small group of elites. Dabi announces the League of Villain's first task is to strip away the student's sense of security.

The Vanguard Action Squad begins their assault the next evening. Dabi uses his Quirk to set The Beast's Forest ablaze in blue fire.

Dabi attacks Eraser Head.

Dabi keeps the fire going while the other villains search for Katsuki Bakugo, who is their target. Twice makes clones of Dabi so he can distract the U.A. teachers. Dabi waits outside of the base camp building and surprise attacks Eraser Head on his way out. He blasts Eraser Head with an explosion of blue flames, but the hero evades and erases Dabi's Quirk by looking at him. He overpowers the villain and pins him to the ground before interrogating him for information about his allies. Dabi refuses to comply and gets free once a few of the students arrive. Eraser Head goes to restrain Dabi again, but the clone disappears as Dabi taunts the latter, leaving Eraser Head shocked.

Dabi tells Twice the clone was defeated too fast. Twice rebuffs Dabi's claim. He comically argues until Dabi orders him to make another clone to keep the Pro-Heroes at bay. The clone attacks the base camp again. He blasts one of the classrooms and is quickly restrained by the Blood Hero: Vlad King. The clone goads Vlad King until Eraser Head arrives and destroys it.

Dabi is about to discover Yuga's presence.

Mr. Compress is able to successfully capture Katsuki, compressing him into a marble along Fumikage Tokoyami, and radios the team to rendezvous. Twice complains and Dabi argues that Mr. Compress did a fine job. Dabi seems to notice Yuga Aoyama hiding behind a bush, but before he is able to act, Twice reminds him to call back Nomu. Twice had to remind Dabi to unleash Nomu on the students earlier. Dabi remembers the Nomu was designed for him and will only react to his voice. He then signals for the Nomu while he and Twice walk to the meeting spot.

Dabi and Twice meet Himiko first. Dabi asks how her mission went and Himiko replies that she was only able to collect one sample of blood. As Twice and Himiko begin to banter back and forth, Dabi tells them both to shut up and notices a trio of students tackling Mr. Compress out of mid-air: Izuku Midoriya, Shoto Todoroki, and Mezo Shoji.

Dabi takes Katsuki before Shoto can save him.

Dabi, unfazed by this entrance, orders Mr. Compress to move aside and he does so by using his compressing Quirk on himself. Dabi throws a fireball that burns Mezo and Izuku. The other villains attack the students and Mr. Compress motions to give the captured students to Dabi. He meant to keep their compressed marble bodies inside his pocket, but Mezo stole them.

Kurogiri arrives to evacuate the villains as their goal is achieved. Dabi refuses to leave without Katsuki, but Mr. Compress reassures him he was hiding the real marbles the entire time. Hiding from the shadows, Yuga shoots Mr. Compress in the face and he drops the marbles out of his mouth. Mezo is able to retrieve Fumikage, but Dabi secures Katsuki's marble before Shoto reaches it. Dabi taunts Shoto's attempt as he commands Mr. Compress to confirm Katsuki's body. Katsuki reverts to his normal body with Dabi's hand around his neck. Dabi calls checkmate and the villains disappear within the warp-gate.

Hideout Raid Arc

The League of Villains invites Katsuki to join them.

Having completed their mission, Dabi and the Vanguard Action Squad return to the hideout. They restrain Katsuki and bring him before Tomura.

Tomura tells Katsuki about the League of Villain's goal to reform hero society. Then he asks Dabi to remove his restraints. Dabi argues that Katsuki will fight, but Tomura asks him to do it anyway. Dabi orders Twice to remove the bonds and then Katsuki immediately blasts Tomura in the face with an explosion. Katsuki tells the League he'll never join them because he wants to be a Hero like All Might.

Magne comments that Katsuki is clever for realizing his own value to the villains. Dabi argues that he's a fool for fighting. Tomura puts the fallen hands back on and requests that nobody harm Katsuki. Tomura asks All For One to lend him his power and then orders Mr. Compress to restrain Katsuki.

Gran Torino knocks Dabi unconscious.

The League of Villains is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of what sounds to be a pizza delivery. Then All Might suddenly bursts through the opposite wall with Kamui Woods and the latter restrains all the villains with his Lacquered Chain Prison technique. Dabi attempts to free himself from the wooden binds by igniting his flames, however Gran Torino flies in and stops Dabi by knocking him unconscious with a swift kick to the head.

Dabi and the other villains are saved when All For One warps them to the destroyed Nomu Factory. All For One activates the Quirk of the unconscious Kurogiri and orders the League of Villains to capture Katsuki and retreat. Mr. Compress uses his Quirk to compress Dabi's body into a marble. All of the villains are forced to flee the battlefield when All For One uses Magne's Quirk to force them into the Warp Gate.

Provisional Hero License Exam Arc

Dabi dismisses six low-class villains and incinerates them.

Three weeks following the battle in Kamino Ward, the League of Villains separate in order to conceal themselves and recruit like-minded individuals to their cause. Dabi enters an alleyway, hoping to find recruits there.

The low-life thugs threaten to kill Dabi and he recognizes that they're nothing but weak thugs. He tells them to get out of his way and then burns them all to death with his Quirk. Dabi mocks them by stating they're garbage and the least they can do is become kindling for his flames.

Shie Hassaikai Arc

While he was busy with these matters, Tomura and other members of the League of Villain have a clandestine encounter with the current leader of the Shie Hassaikai, Overhaul. A series of discrepancies and differences of opinions generate a confrontation between them that ends with the death of Magne and Mr. Compress losing an arm. Despite this, Dabi is present at the meeting in which Tomura informs them that they will form an alliance with Shie Hassaikai. Dabi says nothing, but Twice and Himiko are unhappy with the decision, but Tomura assures them that it's for the good of the League, and the time when they can avenge Magne and Mr. Compress will come.

A few days later, the Shie Hassaikai Compound is assaulted by heroes, and with the help of Twice and Himiko, they manage to defeat the entire organization and arrest its members. During the aftermath of the Shie Hassaikai Raid, Dabi accompanies Tomura, Spinner, and Mr. Compress on their mission to confront the defeated Overhaul. Tomura claims that his plan is as simple as a game of Shogi. Dabi argues that Shogi isn't that simple.

Dabi fights the Sand Hero: Snatch.

The League of Villains engages a Police convoy carrying Overhaul inside one of the trucks while he's restrained and strapped to a medical bed. Dabi tells Spinner to stop driving erratically because it's making him carsick. He maintains his composure and attacks the convoy with a large flamethrower stream, prompting the Sand Hero: Snatch to appear from within one of the trucks.

Dabi recognizes Snatch as a powerful Pro Hero while Tomura fights him. He also notes that Tomura's infamy has gotten him way too famous. Tomura crashes several of the trucks into each other while Dabi confronts Snatch himself. He taunts Snatch for being a Hero that always needs to jump in to rescue others. Snatch recognizes Dabi as the villain associated with a string of murders where the corpses were burned. Dabi admits that he's excited to hear about his notoriety.

Dabi and his allies leave the place.

Snatch attacks Dabi with a sand tiger move and Dabi counters with a large blast of fire. While Snatch is distracted, Mr. Compress uses his Quirk to trap him inside a marble with Dabi's flames. Mr. Compress accidentally burns himself and then asks Dabi if Snatch's sand will burn. Dabi believes Snatch can only transform his upper body into the sand and will likely die while compressed.

Tomura exacts his revenge on Overhaul by destroying his arms. Spinner warns his allies that police reinforcements will arrive soon. Dabi, Mr. Compress, and Tomura walk back towards the truck as the flames from their destruction burn in the background.

Pro Hero Arc

Dabi attacks Endeavor and Hawks with his Quirk.

Dabi is assigned to test one of Doctor Ujiko's High-End Nomu. During this encounter, Dabi recognizes that Ujiko was the one that rescued him from death and rebuilt his body, and after seeing the Nomu, has a clearer understanding of what they did to him, and what they were planning to use him for. Ujiko had specifically set up this encounter to ask him how he survived, surprised at his reappearance and assuming he had died after he escaped, realizing he has managed to make it this far purely on his grudge alone.

At Hidamari Kindergarten on the same day as the Hero Billboard Chart JP release, Dabi tells the High-End "Hood" that it is the first intelligent Nomu and he expects good results. Hood attacks the No. 1 & 2 Pro Heroes: Endeavor and Hawks. Dabi watches from within the city limits when Endeavor narrowly wins their fight. With the two Pro Heroes injured from their fight and before they can request for help, Dabi confronts them himself and greets Endeavor.

Dabi confronts the two heroes and traps them within a wall of fire. Endeavor recognizes Dabi as the villain who murdered Snatch and Dabi claims he has no idea who he's talking about. Dabi tells Endeavor he wants to talk while they have the opportunity. Hawks stands up to Dabi and the latter claims he wouldn't try and defeat the two top heroes alone. Then Dabi says that they're both on death's doorstep and decides to attack, that is when Mirko interrupts the latter and attacks Dabi from above. Her fearsome stomp keeps him at bay, making Dabi realize his disadvantage. Dabi then calls Ujiko to use the Warping Quirk to warp him away. Before he leaves, Dabi calls Endeavor by his real name and tells him not to die.

Dabi threatened by Hawks.

Afterward, Dabi meets with Hawks to discuss Hood's attack. Hawks is upset with Dabi for not keeping to their original plan and holds a blade to his neck. Unfazed, Dabi replies that Hawks wasn't supposed to bring someone as powerful as Endeavor. He questions the lack of casualties from the battle, insisting that a villain sympathizer wouldn't have acted in such a heroic way.

Hawks explains he has to keep a Heroic appearance to the public to make himself more useful to the League of Villains. Understanding, Dabi walks away and tells Hawks he can't meet their leader yet, but he'll contact him again in the future.

While walking towards the harbor, Dabi recalls Snatch and is seemingly moved by the hero's last words to him. Dabi says thinking about all the families he's affected has nearly driven him crazy. He wipes some blood from the patch underneath his eye as if he was crying.

Meta Liberation Army Arc

Prior to the Hero Billboard JP, the League of Villains has seen better days. They're barely scraping by with no funds and have resorted to stealing from other criminal groups and living in a run-down building. Sometime during this period while the League are taking it easy, Twice asks Himiko if she wants a Villain name of her own, with Mr. Compress and Spinner adding that her and Tomura are the only ones without one. Himiko refuses one, as Spinner suggests "Vampiress Carmilla", and Twice suggests "Suck-Suck" (and "Lickitung"), with Himiko rejecting both. Dabi mocks them for the suggestions, calling it stupid and just crowd-pleasing crap as a holdover from before the Quirk registration system. Compress retorts back considering Dabi's own name, while snidely stating he still hasn't told them his real name yet.

Tomura adds onto the conversation explaining the history of how Hero and Villain names came to be, originated from aliases used to refer to anonymous enemies, with code-names being adopted and embraced like comic books, helping to lead the world to being like one itself. Tomura says he's good without one, even though he thinks they can be cool, as Himiko jumps for joy, saying that is why she joined the League, to live as "Himiko Toga".

Dabi tries to prove his worth to Gigantomachia.

While the League continue their ransacking of other Villain groups like the Creature Rejection Clan, Dabi spends his time trying to recruit new members. He returns to the filthy hideout and berates his allies for sitting around doing nothing. Twice replies that Dabi just burns everyone he meets, but Dabi claims he burns them because they're ambition-less trash and Himiko taunts him for being a poor judge of character. Spinner confronts Tomura over the state of the League and admits he's only here to fill his empty heart with a new purpose. Dabi taunts him by saying he's just a hollow cosplayer of Stain.

They're interrupted by an intense rumbling that brings the villains outside. The League of Villains come face to face with a giant claiming it's searching for All For One's successor. Dabi questions the identity of this titan and Tomura claims he's the secret weapon Kurogiri got captured trying to retrieve. The giant quickly overpowers the League, while the voice of All For One's doctor plays from the beast's radio which hangs around his neck.

The League is transported to the Doctor's lab.

The Doctor explains that the giant is named Gigantomachia and he is All For One's ex-bodyguard. Gigantomachia went into hiding before All For One's defeat and the Doctor claims this meeting was all a part of his plan. Dabi replies that the big guy isn't exactly a generous gift and lights up his flames. Dabi blasts Gigantomachia in blue flames. Shocked, Dabi watches as the giant brushes off the fire as Himiko tells Dabi his attack didn't work.

A recording of All For One's voice soothes Gigantomachia and calms him down. The Doctor warps the League to his lair using the warping Quirk from Kamino. Dabi immediately notices the Nomu housed in the lab. The Doctor commends Dabi's sharp eye and introduces himself as Daruma Ujiko. Annoyed, Dabi asks why the League is at the lair and the Doctor replies that they must prove themselves if they desire his support.

Dabi assures Tomura that he has a good ally to recruit.

In response, Tomura explains his past and why he desires to destroy everything. Bored, Dabi stands by with the others who don't appear to quite understand Tomura's distortion. The Doctor accepts Tomura but he will not fully support the League until they defeat Gigantomachia. Dabi refuses to help because he wants to put more time into recruiting a potential ally. Tomura says he's excited to see who he brings and the Doctor tells Dabi he can help test a High-End for him.

Following this, the High-End Hood attack on Endeavor and Hawks takes place. Almost a month and a half later, Dabi contacts Hawks by phone call and gives the number 2 hero one last job to prove himself to the League: he must kill a specific person.

A few days after this, while Dabi hides out on the border between Iwe and Shiga, Re-Destro, leader and the great commander of the Meta Liberation Army, contacts Tomura. Re-Destro informs him that they captured and tortured his broker Giran in order to find them, as the MLA considers Tomura and his allies a threat to their plans. For this reason, he declares war on the League, and informs them that if they do not go to Deika City to confront them, they will use their influence so that they have to face a force of Heroes.

The League ready to battle.

Tomura accepts the challenge and orders the Doctor to warp everyone to Deika City, where the confrontation must take place. Dabi is also warped to Deika City and regroups with the others for a war against the Meta Liberation Army. Dabi's annoyed they dragged him into their mission to rescue Giran and this angers Twice. Himiko notices someone approaching the group and Dabi readies his flames. It turns out to be an escort, the Pro Hero Slidin' Go.

Slidin' Go leads the villains through the seemingly abandoned city where they eventually meet with Koku Hanabata and Chitose Kizuki, two top executives of the army. Koku begins the Liberation Army's Revival Celebration and dozens of citizens suddenly ambush the villains.

Dabi taking on several MLA Warriors.

Dabi appears to avoid direct combat while dodging various Quirks aimed toward the League. Spinner comments that no matter how many warriors are defeated, they just keep coming in waves. Dabi replies that Spinner hasn't defeated a single one yet. Koku Hanabata uses his campaign van to announce that Chitose has perished at the hands of Himiko. The warriors are enraged and swarm at Tomura, who counterattacks by killing them all with a single swipe of his hand.

Impressed, Dabi realizes it's about time he got serious about fighting when suddenly a hooded man tries to crush him using two giant ice gauntlets. Dabi avoids it and admits that he's gotten stronger and now he can tell at a glance this new bruiser is tough too. Geten asks Dabi why he hasn't used his wide range of flames to attack yet, suggesting something might be wrong with his abilities.

Dabi clashes with Geten.

Dabi smirks and counterattacks with a wave of flames that melts his opponent's ice. The ice warrior collects ice from all the nearby buildings and collects it into one massive frozen figure. He claims to have been perfecting his Quirk without school his entire life. Dabi taunts him for living a sad life and the elements of their Quirks collide, splitting the battlefield.

The blue flames prove more ferocious and hold the advantage against Geten's ice. Dabi taunts his opponent, calling him outmatched since his ice is all gone. Mr. Compress struggles nearby against some of the other warriors and asks for help. Dabi asks why he should help when an army of Twice clones is headed their way. The doubles fight to protect Dabi and Mr. Compress from the other warriors. Many of them decide they should try and double Dabi but Mr. Compress urges them to save some fodder for when Gigantomachia awakens.

Dabi's flames slowly eat away at him.

Geten takes out much of Twice's Sad Mans Parade with a barrage of ice. Confused, Dabi asks if this town specially manufactures ice. The Iceman explains that he can lower the temperature of the town's water supply in order to generate more ice. Dabi calls him obnoxious for not leading with that in the fight and Geten responds by claiming the Liberation Army will create a world where status is attained by the strength of one's Meta Ability.

Dabi believes that Geten's words of sheer strength sounds miserable and rudely asks him to keel over and die. The ice warrior claims Dabi will be the one who dies, as he can smell his burning body from here. Geten has been observing Dabi's Quirk and believes his body is not compatible with it. Dabi's blue flames starts eat away at his body, meaning its difficult for him to fight prolonged battles. Mr. Compress wishes they could stick Gigantomachia on the iceman and worries about Dabi's fate. Doctor Ujiko notices the League is in peril and awakens the giant early.

Dabi and Geten's battle rages on.

Despite his injuries, Dabi fights on against Geten in a battle of elements. Their fighting continues until both fighters are worn down and Gigantomachia enters the city. The giant proves far more powerful than the army can contend with and Mr. Compress realizes they were foolish for underestimating him. Mr. Compress asks Dabi to finish up this battle so they can save Tomura before the giant reaches him.

Worried for his own leader, Geten flees the area and tries to stop the giant on his own, only to be easily cast aside. Annoyed and smoking from his wounds, Dabi claims he was close to burning that icy freak up before he fled. Tomura achieves victory against the Meta Liberation Army's leader and obliterates half the city with his Quirk. Re-Destro concedes and hands the Liberation Army over to him.

The League of Villains all survive the Revival Party and recover for a week in a new mansion. Dabi meets back up with Hawks and confirms he killed a man as asked. He isn't sure it's actually Best Jeanist but invites him to the next meeting anyway.

Dabi joins the Paranormal Liberation Front.

While dining on sushi, Mr. Compress claims that this is the calm after the storm. Dabi replies that Mr. Compress didn't do a single thing in the battle. Spinner asks Dabi for his sushi and Dabi lets him have it because he hates fish.

Dabi and all his allies are led underground by Skeptic and Trumpet of the Liberation Army. With Tomura as its new leader, the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army merge to become the Paranormal Liberation Front. Dabi is one of the nine lieutenants appointed to Tomura and will receive a team tailored to him.

Dabi then meets up with Hawks sometime after the ceremony and greets the No. 2 Pro Hero, wondering about the latter's sudden change of mood. Hawks decides to not tell Dabi about his actual mood towards the new formation of the Paranormal Liberation Front.

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising

At some point after the clash, Tomura and his allies gain information on one of Ujiko's projects involving Quirk and body enhancement upon getting requested to transfer important cargo to an unknown location. The League questions Ujiko what's inside the cargo, to which the Doctor simply tells them it has nothing to do with them. With that being said, Dabi, Spinner, and Mr. Compress are assigned to do the task. Although they dislike being treated like regular deliverymen, the three agree to do Ujiko's request.

Dabi attacks his pursuers.

On one late winter night, the League uses an armored truck to transfer the cargo while fleeing from a group of pursuing Pro Heroes on night duty. It turns out that the information about Ujiko's project was leaked out and the Heroes have apparently formed a trap to prevent the League from escaping. When Rock Lock and his partner try to get closer, Dabi emerges from one of the truck's windows and unleashes a blast of fire straight at them. This forces Rock Lock to use Deadbolt to protect him and his partner, preventing them to continue pursuing them. The other two also fend off the Heroes but one of them manages to board the truck. Dabi acts quickly and brutally cremates the Hero to death before he could do anything.

Although they successfully blocked off their pursuers, Spinner wonders who alerted the Heroes of their escape route, to which Dabi replies it must've been an info leak. Endeavor and his small team reveal themselves at the end of the road, surprising both Spinner and Mr. Compress. Dabi, on the other hand, expresses delight at Endeavor's arrival and launches another large fire blast at him. Endeavor counters this by using Jet Burn, causing both attacks to cancel out on each other.

Dabi and Endeavor clash again.

Spinner decides to accelerate the truck while Dabi readies himself to release a more powerful blast of his flames, both intending to kill Endeavor right on spot. Unfazed by this sudden move, Endeavor tells his allies to leave the scene as he retaliates with Prominence Burn, which ultimately breaks through Dabi's attack and consumes the truck in a burst of flames. The villains melt into sludge as they turn out to be clones created by Twice. The burning truck rolls off the road and crashes at a nearby forest, which was later revealed to be exactly where Ujiko wanted them to drop off the cargo.

A few days later, the League relocates to an abandoned shack. They discuss who was inside the convey, to which Dabi believes that it wasn't that important just as Ujiko mentioned before. Despite their discussion, all members (excluding Tomura) are still unaware of what was truly inside the convey.

Endeavor Agency Arc

Dabi considers that the U.A. students have hardly improved.

As the Paranormal Liberation Front prepare themselves for the next coming months, Dabi sends Starservant to cause havoc at a nearby city. Later, Dabi and his allies (excluding Tomura and Geten) are present at a meeting in which Hawks informs them of Endeavor's decision to take on two new interns other than Shoto. Dabi comments that he feels like the students haven't changed ever since the Training Camp incident. The lieutenants are also informed of Tomura's ultimate scheme to destroy everything in about 4 months once the latter finishes his upgrades. Afterwards, Dabi would soon send Ending to attack Endeavor and his new trainees at his family's home.

Paranormal Liberation War Arc

Dabi and Geten as commander of Guerilla Warfare regiment.

Once two months have passed, Dabi is assigned as a commander for the "Vanguard Action Guerrilla Warfare Regiment: Violet" team along with Geten. When the Heroes launch their attack on the Paranormal Liberation Front, Dabi and the other lieutenants are first unaware of the raid, that is until noticing the Gunga Mountain Villa mansion splitting apart by Cementoss' Quirk.

The Paranormal Liberation Front lieutenants decide to evacuate their subordinates and instead send their lower-ranked advisers to fight the oncoming storm. While everyone else evacuates, Dabi moves towards somewhere else in mind. Upon hearing Twice screaming, Dabi heads straight to the scene, knowing that Hawks has betrayed the organization.

Dabi is aware that Hawks has made his move.

Dabi eventually reaches where Twice and Hawks are fighting. He takes time to hear what Hawks has to say about his role. Dabi then makes his move by firing off a large flamethrower to save Twice from harm. Dabi enters the room and approaches an injured Hawks, who was badly scorched by his flames. The villain steps on Hawks' face while emitting flames from his soles, mocking the hero for making excuses for his hero-like behavior. However, Hawks reveals that he survived Dabi's assault thanks to his wings carrying him and Twice to safety.

Dabi tells Hawks that he lost most of his feathers for combat. Hawks calls out Dabi for nearly burning his friend to death but Dabi admits that it's expected of heroes to put their lives on the line. Dabi smugly reveals that he never considered trusting Hawks from the start of his 'cooperation' with the League. With that said, Dabi launches another barrage of flames straight at the Winged Hero, causing a large explosion outside the crumbling mansion.

Dabi ambushes Hawks out of nowhere, saving Twice from death.

Twice manages to escape Hawks' grasp and tells Dabi to continue assaulting Hawks. Dabi then encourages Twice to go wild and fight at full power, high-fiving his comrade while holding back Hawks with his flames. Unfortunately, Hawks flew outside out of Dabi's range, shocking the flame villain once more.

Dabi proceeds to call Hawks by his real name to catch the hero off-guard while unleashing another flamethrower. This gives Twice barely enough time to escape, only for Hawks to land a fatal blow on the villain, killing him in the process.

Dabi overwhelms Hawks with brute force.

Upon realizing that Twice has died, Dabi completely goes berserk on Hawks, sarcastically mocking the hero for killing his comrade. Dabi continues to beat down Hawks with every bit of rage and anger stored inside him. Hawks wonders why Dabi is smiling despite witnessing Twice's death. Dabi reveals that he can't cry due to burning his tear glands in the past and he is upset by Twice's death since it was necessary for his own dream to come true.

Hawks then questions Dabi's true identity, to which the villain responds with a sinister tone. Dabi opens up that he never cared about Shigaraki nor the League. All he ever cared about was carrying out Stain's ideology and spreading it to the world. Just as the villain readies himself to burn Hawks to death, Dabi gets pushed back by the timely arrival of Tsukuyomi.

Dabi faces off against Tsukuyomi.

Dabi tells Fumikage it's pathetic that U.A. forced their students on the battlefield and cruelly points out that Hawks murdered Twice when the latter was trying to protect his friends. This shocks Fumikage hard to the heart. Dabi then questions Fumikage why he's here and mocks him for looking up to a Hero that's far dirtier than the Villains. However, Fumikage refuses to falter at Dabi's words, which makes the latter realize the situation. Dabi readies his flames just as Fumikage prepares Dark Shadow to try to get him and Hawks to safety.

The Villain shoots out a large flamethrower to burn the two Heroes, nearly scorching Fumikage to death in the process. A barely conscious Hawks tells Fumikage that Dabi will keep talking as his taunting serves as a way for him to recharge his flames, telling his intern to leave. Fumikage sends Dark Shadow to attack Dabi but the attack misses. Dabi then jumps down and uses his flames on his feet to hover downwards to chase after Fumikage and Hawks.

Dabi and Mr. Compress observe the battle.

Noticing that his teacher is unconscious, Fumikage tries to use Black Fallen Angel but Dabi appears before them hovering. He prepares to blast them to ashes while noting he saw Hawks' betrayal coming. However, their skirmish is interrupted by Geten's sudden ice attack, allowing Fumikage and Hawks to escape.

Soon, Dabi rejoins with Mr. Compress just as the Villains are beginning to retaliate against the Heroes. Dabi questions Mr. Compress on the whereabouts of the other PLF members, in which Mr. Compress points out he was supposed to be with the other lieutenants. The flame villain admits that the whole regiment never worked out due to the sudden attack the Heroes launched, suggesting they should escape for the time being. Mr. Compress then reveals that he witnessed Twice's death and this resulted in Himiko losing her composure. Dabi silently observes Himiko killing other Heroes out of vengeance for her friend's demise.

Dabi is among the other Lieutenants riding on the behemoth's back.

Suddenly the place begins to shake, and Gigantomachia emerges from the ground, raising a hand to grab Compress and Dabi, although the latter moves away. Seeing that he is putting the League members on his back, Dabi deduces that Tomura has awakened. When the behemoth tries to grab him again, Dabi asks him to wait a moment, because there is someone he wants to use. He grabs ahold of Skeptic, to his exasperation, and takes him alongside the other League members, believing soon will be the time for his big plan.

As Gigantomachia tries breaking through Mt. Lady, who tries to hold him back, the Villains discuss what happened when he suddenly grabbed all of them. Dabi deduces that Tomura has awoken, otherwise Gigantomachia wouldn't even be moving. A frantic Skeptic demands to be let down, as he wants to go back to help Re-Destro. Dabi ignores his pleas and asks him to be quiet, as the heroes have not yet realized that all of them are on Gigantomachia's back.

Dabi roasts Kamui Woods.

Gigantomachia decides to take a shortcut to reach Tomura quicker, so he throws aside Mt. Lady by her foot and charges forward to his destination. Kamui Woods and Midnight attempt to intervene but Kamui gets dowsed by a stream of flames, courtesy of Dabi himself. Midnight manages to witness the League on Gigantomachia's back but ends up slamming into a group of building debris released by Mr. Compress.

With the pursuing Pros out of their way, Gigantomachia and the League continue to escape while an injured Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods struggle to drag him down. However, their escape is cut off by the Villa Raid Backup Team, in which they end up sending Gigantomachia crashing into the ground with their Quirks. The Villains then notice several students charging straight at them.

Dabi is in awe of the power of Gigantomachia.

Kyoka tries to attack with her Amplifier Jack but Dabi blasts them with his flames, forcing her to retract them. Denki follows up by shooting many of his disks near the Villains' positions but due to Reiko throwing him at a poor angle, he gets knocked down by Mr. Compress' remaining pieces of building debris.

Gigantomachia opens his mouth, nearly allowing the students to throw in the sedatives, only for the behemoth to blow most of them away with his breath. Dabi releases more of his flames to hold off the remaining students on the battlefield, causing more steam to emerge from his body. He then comments that he once heard that having multiple Quirks allows the user to remain more active in battle, a trait that Gigantomachia possesses.

Dabi assures Skeptic they will destroy the fake hero society.

However, Red Riot manages to climb up Gigantomachia's arm and throws the sedative into his mouth, just as another group of Pro Heroes joins the fray. Regardless, Gigantomachia manages to overwhelm the Pro Heroes and escapes without any scratch. The behemoth eventually tears through multiple cities, destroying everything in his path with the remaining members of the PLF following behind.

During the giant's run, Skeptic informs the others that he got a visual of Tomura facing off against Endeavor. This is good news for Dabi and he tells Skeptic to get ready, as they're going to tear down the hero society, and gives him a series of videos to upload and broadcast when the time comes.

Dabi reveals his true identity as Toya Todoroki to the Heroes.

As Gigantomachia finally arrives at Tomura's location and protects him from the combined attacks of Nejire and Shoto, Dabi appears from the back of the giant villain to announce his arrival to the heroes on the ground, pleasantly realizing that both Endeavor and Shoto are there. Endeavor angrily calls out Dabi's name, but the villain retorts by telling Endeavor to call him out by another name: Toya. Endeavor and Shoto are frozen in shock as Dabi removes his hair dye to reveal his white hair and his identity as Endeavor's oldest son: Toya.

Dabi continues by saying that he's been watching Endeavor all this time and has started broadcasting his past to the entire world all to discredit his father while telling Endeavor of the terrible pain he endured as a child, asking himself why he even existed. His original plan was to kill Shoto when he became a hero, but after Endeavor took the number one spot, Dabi decided to send multiple threats, such as Hood, Starservant, and Ending his father's way.

Dabi reminds his father that his past sins still live on.

He then asks Endeavor if he feels good now that he's the number one hero and he can now look at his children with pride. He yells that it's wrong for Endeavor to assume he can just keep moving forward and that the past never dies while taunting his father and telling them to dance together in this hell.

Endeavor refuses to believe this, stating that Dabi is telling a despicable lie, but the villain replies that it is the despicable truth, telling them to take some of his blood or spit for a DNA test to be sure. At the same time, Dabi reveals his blood tests on his broadcast to confirm his identity as the son of Endeavor while continuing to deride his father as a man who completely lacks empathy. The broadcast then shows doctored footage of Hawks killing Twice to make it seem as though the number two hero ruthlessly killed a man who was trying to save his friends and paint him as a murderer, while also revealing that Hawks killed Best Jeanist, the number three hero.

Dabi readies himself to finish off the Heroes.

Dabi also reveals more of Hawks' past, how Hawks' father was a serial robber and a murderer who was ironically arrested by Endeavor. The villain derides heroes as individuals who only care about themselves and use others to promote themselves. Dabi thanks Endeavor for going strong until now, then jumps down, preparing to eliminate his father and the others with his Prominence Burn.

Before he can do this, he's immobilized by wires. He looks up and is surprised to see the number three hero falling from the sky, who he'd believed to be dead.

Dabi and Shoto clash in the air.

Dabi is surprised by the hero's arrival, having believed him to be dead. Best Jeanist tells him that he has overreached with his ambitions and now he will come apart like inferior denim. Dabi, however, says that even if Best Jeanist is alive, that won't sweep under the rug the Todoroki Family's hard truth. Nejire Chan, meanwhile, tries to strike Tomura, but unfortunately gets blasted by Dabi's flames, as he's burning through the wires, much to Shoto and the other's horror.

As she falls out of the sky, Dabi tells Endeavor that once again, another child with a bright future has been burnt up by his flames as he breaks free of his restraints. Shoto desperately begs Dabi to stop. As Shoto clashes with his brother, he reveals to Dabi that one of the Villains he sent Endeavor's way nearly killed Natsuo, the one who he claimed he cried to everyday.

Willing to burn his brother to further torture Enji.

Dabi, however, merely says it was a shame he didn't die because then Endeavor would have suffered more. An incredulous Shoto asks his brother if he is insane and Dabi confirms he doesn't feel anything anymore. He starts to push Shoto back, excited at the thought of finally being able to kill his little brother.

As Dabi keeps battling and taunting Shoto midair, he traps him in his arms and unleashes his flames. Shoto warns him that in doing so, he would burn himself as well, but Dabi replies that he's fine since he gets to see Endeavor powerlessly standing still and seemingly broken as his "puppet masterpiece" dies in the fire of his "failed experiment", and relishes the opportunity to see what face Endeavor will make once Shoto is burnt to ashes when Deku suddenly catches him with Blackwhip.

Dabi uses his fire to break free from Izuku's Blackwhip.

Dabi quickly frees himself with a heat blast that also knocks both Shoto and Deku away, chastising the latter for meddling in his family affair. As he falls, Deku retorts to him that Endeavor is his mentor, and though the past never dies, the latter is still trying to make amends, then he finally adds that Dabi is not Endeavor.

Dabi laughs at Deku stating the obvious, then argues that he's the pitiable result of a hero's cruelty, that justice is losing to evil, and that what comes next is a future where chaos will blow away all of the heroes' hypocrisy.

Dabi overpowers Shoto.

In one final clash, as Shoto uses Flashfire Fist: Jet Kindling on Dabi, the latter responds with a larger, more powerful version of Flashfire Fist: Jet Burn that overwhelms and knocks out his younger brother. He sarcastically apologizes to him and leaves the battlefield since killing Shoto now would be pointless to Dabi if Endeavor is about to pass out and not completely broken yet. He then meets up with Mr. Compress who uses his Quirk on him and Skeptic and puts him in Spinner's scarf so he can escape with the rest of the League.

The Heroes attempt to stop the remaining League members (sans Gigantomachia, Himiko, and Mr. Compress) from escaping with the surviving Near High-Ends, but all is in vain as they proceed to escape the battlefield.

After the League successfully escaped to one of their lairs, Dabi is later seen sitting beside a now All For One possessed Tomura, who is rejoicing from the series of jailbreaks he has caused all over Japan. He then asks Dabi and Spinner to keep watch while he lets Tomura's body rest.

Dabi rests at an abandoned mansion, reminiscing of the day he nearly died.

Two days later, Dabi is lying on a sofa in the former Creature Rejection Clan mansion, contemplating his burn scars and commenting on how they have gotten worse even though he doesn't feel any different. Knowing that Endeavor is probably still alive and recuperating, he deduces that not only does his position not allow him to die even if he wanted to, but he would also have to make a public statement soon, something he joyfully awaits as he expects a pathetic display.

He then tells his former family to take a good look at him in the depths of hell while shedding a tear of blood. He then reminisces about the tragic night he lost control of his flames, commenting that this was to be expected since his father only ever taught him how to turn up the heat.

Later when seeing his father making a speech to the public, Dabi is disappointed that he did not fully break his father's resolve after the latter revealed his abuse to his family to the world laughing that he didn't go far enough.

U.A. Traitor Arc

About a month later, Dabi has been hiding alongside the rest of the League members in All For One's secret cave enclave. When "Tomura"'s Quirk factors are damaged as a result of his battle against Star and Stripe, All For One apologizes to the rest of the villains that they have to wait while "Tomura" recovers. Dabi complains that he has to wait another day to take down his father, leading All For One to tell Dabi that they are alike in many ways, but also different, explaining how he carefully maps out different routes to achieve his goals. He also says that, unlike Dabi, he has friends to spare, informing of his many spies he has located within U.A. currently. Dabi asks if they could be in trouble if one of his friends gets caught, but All For One assures him that's not the case since he not only has multiple friends, but that are all more like disposable pawns to him.

Dabi waits for Himiko outside her old home.

Dabi later finds Himiko at her family home and laments that he didn't know a nut job like her had a heart, which she rebuffs saying she was just curious about her old home and that it's perfectly normal. Dabi asks if she is sure she is ready for what's coming next, which she responds that it's a little too late to ask her that now.

Dabi is pleased and tells her that whether they are are smiling or crying, the sun will still come out tomorrow, so they should smile, proceeding to burns down her old home as she skips away. She warns him that he'll get them caught, but notes that it was awfully kind of him, with Dabi adding that they don't have the manpower to get caught now, and that it wasn't so much a kindness as it was twisting the knife in Endeavor's back. He then reminds her of her capability to use the Quirks of those she holds dear when she transforms into them, and now that she has a vial Twice's blood, which he managed to obtain during the War, she can continue his Sad Man's Parade and help bring an end to everything for good.

Final War Arc

Dabi and the Paranormal Liberation Front are warped by All For One to seize One For All.

Prior to the Final War, All For One offered Dabi and Spinner a new Quirk for the upcoming battle. Dabi casually refuses, believing to not need it, as All For One instead gives two to Spinner. Days later, Dabi is summoned by All For One, along with an army of villains, to confront Izuku to steal One For All, before promptly facing down the surprise ambush from the the remaining Heroes. After Tomura touches the ground and feels something strange, he commands Dabi to attack, who sarcastically tells his leader he isn't the boss of him. Dabi goes on a charge, as he mocks his father on their meeting and asks if he has come to watch his pals get incinerated, throwing a torrent of fire, but Shoto emerges from a Warp Gate, blocking it with his ice. Shoto calls him out on being stupid for not counting them in the fight, and Dabi laughs as he yells out his brother's name.

Suddenly, the "Troy" defense system activates, encasing the villains into separate containers. The villains quickly break open out of them, with Dabi laughing that they didn't even last three seconds, but Shoto responds that was all they needed, as the heroes are able to shove them all into separate Warp Gates. Dabi and Shoto are warped to Kamino, where they face off.

Shoto and Dabi ready themselves for Round Two.

While clashing with his brother, Dabi proceeds to burn down Kamino Ward with a gigantic fire tornado, dwindling down the accompanying Heroes, and reminiscences on the current events being similar to the Hosu Incident, as seeing that battle was what spurred him to action in the first place. After catching his wits, Dabi is confronted within the tornado by Shoto, Burnin, Kido, and Onima, lamenting how Endeavor couldn't face him and instead sent his son and his three Sidekicks to deal with him.

He then mocks Shoto on being a pawn in Endeavor's plan, while Shoto declares that he's not there because someone ordered him, but because he wants to be the one to stop him. Amused, Dabi claims that still just makes him their father's pawn, but Shoto replies that if he simply ignored him and tried to be a hero, then that would be true. After agreeing, Dabi proclaims about how this War is about the people involved, not the mindless soldiers, but the ones who want to change or destroy the world, fighting for their feelings, all representing the limitations of their super-powered society. Shoto then asks Dabi if he was alive this whole time why he didn't come back home. As his rotting body begins to increasingly burned from his Quirk, Dabi notes it's only fair that, as Shoto's older brother, he gives his side of the story of how he became Dabi, why he's still alive, and how his flames even surpassed his father's "masterpiece".

Dabi begins to tell his tale as his rotting flesh burns away.

Dabi explains to Shoto that he was found barely alive by All For One after his flaming outburst. He and Dr. Kyudai partially restored him in a nursery in an attempt to groom him and become his subordinate, only for him to ran away and come home. However, he finds out that his family had moved on and Shoto was now the center of Endeavor's attention. After reflecting on how he cast aside his old name, Dabi decides to reject everything who he was as Toya and christened himself as Dabi, dedicating himself to destroy Endeavor. He spend years improving his own skill to wreak havoc on him. With his Quirk going wild and his body reduced to a crisped husk, Dabi agrees with Shoto that he was ready to die if it meant to destroy their father's life before he moves to attack Shoto. Standing defiant, Shoto prepares his Flashfire Fist, while declaring he won't succeed.

Dabi mocks Shoto as he burns and beats him.

Dabi gleefully laughs and thanks Shoto for the chat, stating that he'll make for some fine kindling even with their dad not there. After Shoto responds he'll be the one to stop him, Dabi proceeds to comment on his thoughts he has about Shoto too. Right after working on reboosting his weakened flame, Dabi remembered back to Endeavor's words to encourage him, while the numbing of his body stripped away his limitations, allowing him to follow his lead with max output. Asking if Shoto is a fan of All Might, Dabi unleashes Flashfire Fist: Hell Spider, sending a wide array of fire spirals all outside the tornado.

Burnin, Kido, and Onima use their Quirks to protect Shoto as he readies his blast, but Dabi suddenly appears behind him, having used the Hell Spider as a distraction. Dabi throws a fiery punch at Shoto, asking him how he felt holed up at U.A. with all the scared civilians, as the son of Endeavor and brother of Dabi. He continues his assault, lambasting Shoto as despite being "the boy born with everything", blessed with an ideal body in the right place, he still depends on everyone else, and as a half-baked puppet, he'll never make a thing of himself, unleashing a Jet Burn attack that blasts Shoto directly into a building.

Dabi withstands Shoto's attack.

However, Shoto manages to neutralize the heat, to Dabi's surprise. He responds that he's not wrong and was full of doubt all this time, recognizing himself as a "half-baked dummy". Despite that, considering he thought Dabi was only ever focused on Endeavor, he's glad to hear that he's been keeping a close eye on him too. Shoto yells that even though their dad was a madman and their family screwed up, everybody he burned to death was his own choice, and that he is not taking any more innocent lives. Dabi reacts vigorously at the "masterpiece" as Shoto tells him to aim his rage at his family, unleashing his Ultimate Move at him, Flashfire Fist: Phosphor.

Shoto regains the upper hand against Dabi and unleashes his new Ultimate Move: "Icebound Crash - Coldflame's Pale Blade" at him. Dabi manages to recover using his fire, noting how since he has a body to withstand his fire and the ice to quench his flames, he is the perfect "man of the job". After jumping backward, he realizes that even though they share the same blood, they ended up completely different.

Dabi is defeated by Shoto in Round two.

Shoto ends up losing control of his Phosphor and needs to switch it back on, just as Dabi touches the ground and unleashed a violent torrent of Hell Minefield, pushing his fire into the ground to create massive volcanic eruptions all over the battlefield, telling him to just burn up and die already. Burnin, Kido, and Onima take the brunt of the damage to protect Shoto, giving him enough time to start building up his fire and ice.

Shoto bursts a powerful ice punch right through Dabi's chest, telling him they're going to mingle whether he likes it or not, and to stop already, blasting him with his Ultimate Move, Great Glacial Aegir, a gigantic wave of cold fire that shoots directly through his chest. The fire all over Kamino is frozen over by Shoto's ice, and Dabi's body is left hanging over Shoto.

Dabi takes Shoto's technique for himself.

The news of Dabi's defeat is then broadcasted to the other heroes by All Might, which eventually boosts their morale. As one of the heroes in the area checks on Dabi, he wonders how he managed to survive the battle, despite his current condition, when a mysterious sphere of light begins to appear on his chest.

As it turns out, right before Shoto covered him in ice, Dabi had managed to copy Shoto's Phosphor move, protecting himself from being completely cooled down by his brother. He's able to catch the Heroes off guard as a stunned Shoto watches him completely burn Kido and Onima alive, taunting that it was a good idea he faced Shoto first as he was able to make use of his Phosphor technique to reinvigorate himself. He then calls out to Skeptic, who speaks to him through a device in the Near High-End Nomu nearby. Skeptic tells him that he's too busy to meddle with his daddy issues, but still informs him of Endeavor's location and that he's currently fighting All For One at the ruins of the Gunga Mountain Villa.

A Warp Gate suddenly envelops Dabi.

Upon learning of Endeavor's location, Dabi thinks that if he sticks to his original plan of defeating Shoto first, his body wouldn't last any longer. As a result, he decides to fly towards Gunga, ignoring all of his brother's pleas to continue fighting. He is then interrupted by Skeptic, who tells him that he is going to get a free ride, when a Warp Gate suddenly appears right in front of him. Dabi enters through the Warp Gate and he is immediately teleported to Endeavor's location. Upon arriving, he then emerges from the portal, gleefully greeting his father.

Dabi then proceeds to burn down the surrounding forest, causing more trouble for the Heroes. This was then accompanied by Himiko, who has transformed into Twice, summoning a huge number of Twice Doubles throughout the entire battlefield.

Dabi confronts his father once again.

Endeavor asks Dabi if Shoto is alright, to which he replies, telling him that he originally planned to kill Shoto and then bring the latter to him as a present, but he was too strong. Upset that his dream won't come true, Dabi then declares to Endeavor that he will still try to take as much as he can from whatever he tries to protect. He then charges at towards him, preparing to face off against his own father. Because Dabi still posed a big threat to the Heroes, Endeavor jets himself into the forest far away to let his maniacal son chase after him, while the remaining forces deal with Himiko's Doubles and All For One.

Unbeknownst to Endeavor; however, Dabi has been internally compressing thermal energy inside of his body ever since his initial defeat at the hands of Shoto, and continues to compress even more. With all of his Blueflames building up, in about ten minutes, his body will explode and cremate everything within 5 kilometers in a massive nuclear explosion. In addition, he was also informed of the location of the evacuation blocks in-between U.A. and Shiketsu by Skeptic, aware that there are some still underneath Gunga and within the estimated blast zone, intending to take them down with him, including the rest of his family.

Dabi's Quirk starts to grow ice when he's on the verge of death.

Dabi continues to pursue after his father, as his body starts to crack with his entire skin burned away after his flames continued to burn his flesh. Now completely consumed by his Blueflames, Dabi lost any form of sanity and just recklessly charged at his father. The combusting Dabi manically screams out for his dad to "Watch me!", as he unleashes a devastating Vanishing Fist that completely smashed Endeavor, but also obliterated his right arm. Dabi grabs ahold of him, as Endeavor desperately tries to convince his son to put out his flames and he doesn't want to watch him die, but Dabi ignores him only repeating continues to repeat frantically for his father to watch him while he attacks him further. He then calls out for Natsuo to play with him, showing how far gone his mental state is.

Endeavor reaches into Dabi's heart, and much to his shock, within Dabi's Phosphor, Endeavor recognizes Rei's Frost Quirk, revealing that in this hysterical state, he had managed to manifest ice within his own Quirk. Endeavor proceeds to look at his son and says he takes full responsibility, believing he had to bear the burden and stay alive to atone for what he's done, but now he recognizes that Dabi's been watching him all this time, while he couldn't be there to watch him. He declares he can't let him die alone, but also won't let anyone else get caught up in their tragedy. He grabs ahold of Dabi, and preparing to use all of his firepower to propel the both of them into the sky, to explode together. However before he can get too far, as Dabi's body continues to crack, Rei appears before the two of them, using her ice to stop them.

The Todoroki Family tries desperately to cool Dabi down.

In his hazed state, Dabi manages to recognize his mother, who shouts out an apology to her son. He then calls out to Fuyumi and Natsuo, who had followed behind Rei against their mother's wishes. Fuyumi cries out that she can't take anymore loss and begs Toya not to take everyone down with him, not baring to lose anyone else. Natsuo then proceeds to yell out to his "idiot older brother" to stop causing trouble. As the Todorokis continue shooting their ice toward Dabi in an attempt to cool him down, Endeavor can only beg him to not let anyone else die and he should be enough. In response, all Dabi can let out is a couple muffled laughs, while having a vision of him and his family being happy again.

As he continues to cackle, Dabi watches on his family's efforts to cool him down. In his thoughts, he thinks to himself that everyone is finally watching him, realizing how it feels like and lamenting that if it was so simple, why didn't it happen sooner, as his heat sphere continues to expand, minutes away from exploding.

Dabi is finally defeated for good.

Just then, Shoto enters the vicinity having blasted all the way there from Kamino thanks to Ingenium, as Dabi is on the verge of exploding. The two screaming brothers look at each other, as Dabi thinks about if only his origin was so simple. Shoto surpasses his limits and unleashes his Great Glacial Aegir on Dabi, completely consuming the inferno in his fire and ice, stopping his self-destruction and causing his fire to dissipate and burn out.

Shoto emerges victorious while looking down at the crisped and partially frozen Dabi. He admits that it is good the rest of his family were there to help cool him down because his Great Glacial Aegir might not have been enough to stop it, since Dabi's Blueflames have been increasingly getting hotter, far beyond his reach and figuring he was not the "masterpiece creation" after all.

Dabi's body begins to freeze from the inside out, and all he can croakily vent out to everyone, including himself, is to just die. As Dabi lays there, a severely wounded Endeavor crawls toward his son and holds onto him, remorsefully apologizing to him for not going to Sekoto Peak. Dabi responds that he hates him and his family, and Endeavor continues to break down, saying to let him have it, apologizing to Rei, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto for everything as well.

Shortly afterwards, Himiko's Double swarm had increased in tenacity to the point that it begun to decimate everything in its path, creeping up on the Todorokis' location. By the time the ocean of Doubles reached them, Endeavor dragged Dabi and his family underneath him to shield them as best as he could. However, thanks to Ochaco and the Heroes, Himiko is defeated and the Doubles disintegrate into the air, with the Todorokis surviving the storm. Shortly afterwards, Dabi is escorted by several recovery robots, alongside Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo, to receive medical treatment, while Endeavor and Shoto rejoin the final fight. Soon after, Tomura was defeated by Izuku and an army of heroes before succumbing to his injuries and dies as his body disintegrates into ashes.

Epilogue Arc

Some time after the end of the Final War, the restoration efforts that were stalled after the Jaku Hospital Raid have picked back up at a breakneck pace, as Heroes from around the world arrived to provide support and resources in rescue and rebuilding Japan. Because of how bad Dabi mutilated his body in an attempt to kill his father to the point it was fatal, he is taken to Central Hospital where he is still in the process of a long and extensive surgery to save his life inside of a life supporting pod while being watched by his father, Endeavor.

After surgery, Dabi, now going by Toya once again, is contained in a life supporting medical pod, the only thing that's keeping him alive. His entire family has come to visit him. The officer informs the Todorokis that Toya can speak, but only for a few minutes per day, and because of his heavily mutilated body, he's facing a slow death.

Toya opens his eyes to see his family, commenting how everyone's here like as if he's a tourist attraction, before starting to heavily cough from his heart being frozen in ice. Enji tells him they're here to tell him and that he's retiring as a Hero. He states that was always his plan once the war was over, but now he can't even stand up on his own, saying that "Endeavor the Hero has died and burned away", and Toya's flames were always stronger than his.

Toya sarcastically gives his condolences, remarking that he shouldn't be trying to play nice after everything is over, calling him a coward. Enji remarks that he's right because he knows him too well since he's always kept a close eye on him, and only ever wanted him to watch him, but he never did. He continues that despite what some people may say, his Hellflame burns inside Toya, and that he's been watching the video denouncing him every single day. He concludes saying from now on he will come visit everyday so they can talk, even if it may be too late.

Toya's heart race continues to increase, with the officer informing them that any further strain could be too dangerous. Enji tells Rei, Natsuo, and Fuyumi for them to talk and make good use of the time Shoto made sure they'd have together, saying that he's free to hate him and to speak his mind. Fuyumi responds she wants to talk too, and Rei adds there's so much she wants to say. Toya can only look on silently as the monitor's beeps get faster. The officer tells the Todorokis they can return tomorrow. Before they leave, Shoto wanted to ask one last question and asks Toya what his favorite food is. He initially doesn't answer, making them believe he's reached his limit and to let him rest, but he then responds with one word: soba. Shoto was surprised that his eldest brother ironically likes the same food he likes, and tells him that soba is his favorite food too, surprising Toya as well. Once everyone's left, Toya begins to tear up as he thinks about their fight, and apologizes to Shoto.

Eight years after the war, Toya's fate remains unknown, though it is likely he would continue to be visited by his father, mother, and siblings.
