My Hero Academia ( (ぼく) のヒーローアカデミア Boku no Hīrō Akademia?) is the four hundred and thirtieth and final chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.

Summary[]

Izuku writes his reflections in his notebook, about how people are not born equal, that they each take shape differently, which leads them to care about others. It's because one's mind and body are unlike anyone else's that they're drawn to others, in search of common ground. An older Kota calls out to "Deku Sensei" asking where they're meeting up for the practical exercise, and he replies they'll be going to the bus stop for a lesson on how to get to the U.S.J.

He continues to think about how that was the truth about society he learned at age 17, that on that day he felt everyone's support, hopes, and prayers, and that even now those voices encourage him, believing that if sparing a thought for someone else is the first step toward herodom, then on that day, everyone was a great hero. He recalls back to his remaining two years of high school, how he felt he was hardly cut out for the dream he held but it came true anyway, and how the tale that began when his body took action before it could think, came to an end along with the ember of One For All, as it finally gives away by the time of his graduation. He concludes saying that he is still writing this because there are more pages yet to come.

Eight years after the conclusion of the final battle, a class of middle schoolers is preparing for high school and are told to fill in their career forms for next week. One student wants to go to U.A.'s hero course, one wants to go to Lightly Labs, the design agency started by Mei Hatsume, one wants to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Ryu Yoshida of Central Hospital and learn how to cure the incurable, and another wants to join Gel Inc. led by Gentle and La Brava, which went down in history during the cyber war five years back.

One of the students look at Dai, who wants to go for the hero course, telling him it'll be tough with his Quirk, especially since the Villain emergence rate has gone down, meaning the number of Pro Heroes has decreased as well, and only the most powerful can be Heroes. He thinks about when he was little, everyone of them was crazy about All Might, Endeavor, Best Jeanist, Deku, Dynamight, and Shoto, and wanted to be like them, and believing he's the only one who never grew up, so when he's feeling unsure of himself, he always comes back to Kamino Ward at the All Might statue.

Now a teacher at U.A., Izuku watches the news where he sees Tentacole receiving the Imamura Peace Prize, due to devoting his efforts toward finding peaceful resolution to conflicts surrounding discrimination, which he dedicates to those who joined the uprising eight years ago, and that he just stood atop the resolve they demonstrated to the world. They next talk about Ingenium, Froppy, Creati, and Uravity, who have been touring elementary schools. Due to the decline in Villain emergence, they have expanded the role that Heroes play, which include the expansion of access to Quirk counseling, spearheaded by Uravity, which is thought to be the most essential initiative in this day and age.

Shota Aizawa then shows Izuku a video of Katsuki yelling at someone trying to film him, remarking that he's about to drop a few notches down the Billboard again. Izuku then talks about how Shoto has been doing good out there, feeling awkward but treating all his fans equally, with people thinking him less as "Endeavor's son". He continues to note how Mirio has made it to the top of the chart, surpassing Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady, with Neito and Juzo coming up fast. Shota asks if Izuku misses being a hero, and he replies that when he and Mawata Fuwa were talking to them all those years ago, he thought about how he may be Quirkless again, but as long as he made use of his experiences to encourage others, he thinks there's something awesome about that. Shota then reminds Izuku to be stricter with his students, that these days they're here to learn and are guaranteed to be future Heroes, so they have to be tough.

Walking outside, Izuku thinks about his former classmates and that ever since they all started working, their time off never seems to line up, so it's been hard to plan get togethers. He sees various advertisements for them, and kids imitating them, feeling that he gets a kick out of seeing everyone's success, and when he gets to thinking about his time in school, he comes to the All Might statue in Kamino. He sees one of the kids about to fall over, so he jumps and catches them, just as Dai trips over himself trying to do the same thing.

Dai excitedly recognizes Izuku, then tells him his worries about how times are changing fast and that someone like him can't keep up anymore since he has a wimpy Quirk compared to his classmates, which is why he visits the All Might statue to ask him if he can become a hero, like they all did. Remembering back to when he first met All Might, Izuku goes into his muttering phase as he talks about how Dai's Quirk allows him to throw saucer-like objects from his hair, suggesting he could stack them for boosted strength or changing their size, which Dai thinks is encouraging but creepy. Izuku then says he'll be fine, since he already made an effort to reach out with a helping hand just now, telling him he can be a hero and to do his best. Looking up at U.A., Izuku thinks about how he'd be lying if he claimed he didn't miss it all, but as long as he can still inspire and encourage others, then he'd say this is still the tale of how they became great Heroes.

Suddenly, All Might appears with a surprise gift for him. He reveals the data obtained from the battle between him and All For One eight years ago has opened up all sorts of exciting possibilities, as just as Quirks themselves grow and deepen, so does technology. He tells him that he mastered using multiple Quirks at once, so he wants him to go out there to give them more data, handing him a mechanical briefcase. Izuku figures it must've cost a lot, and he reveals his "overseas friend" and Mei came together to create it, and the project was funded by the former Class A, led by Katsuki, shocking Izuku. He tells him not to hide it, since his body still has a way of leaping into action, telling him he has also earned this power fair and square; Izuku tears up and smiles. Hawks mentions how traffic has been backed up because of a landslide on Warstar Road, requesting Heroes who can respond, and as Izuku looks down to see the smiling ghost of Tomura, he rejoins the rest of his fellow Heroes of Class A, declaring this is the tale of how they'll keep reaching out to help for all time.

    • The scene where Izuku sees Tomura's ghost watching him with a smile is possibly another reference to Star Wars, such as Luke seeing Anakin's ghost smiling in approval.
