Izuku Midoriya Rising ( (みどり) () (いず) () :ライジング Midoriya Izuku: Raijingu?) is the four hundred and twenty-second chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia.

Summary[]

A large assortment of attacks blast Can't Stop Twinkling back, but he shouts for Deku to keep running. Eraser Head calls out to Oboro, only to see "Kurogiri"'s body slowly starting to disintegrate. Deku continues to charge into the fray as every Hero does what they can to counter against "All For One"'s attacks. Vlad King laments that nothing's connecting because he's too tough, and Illus-o-Camie points out that unlike last time, he's not falling for her illusions. Just then, Eraser Head calls out to them all through their comms, telling them to carve a straight path to Tomura.

"All For One" declares that his Omni-Factor Unleash is not the result of him giving into his emotion, but rather it is him exercising control and authority over his powers, telling the Heroes not to presume they have him out-numbered. He forms a large laser that he blasts straight toward Deku, but Invisible Girl confidently jumps in front of it to refract it back at him. Creati and Chargebolt then produce the Electromagnetic Rail Gun, which they activate and fire directly into "All For One", who annoyingly calls them insolent as he counters the attacks and launches more of his own.

Deku shouts for him to leave them alone, preparing to throw a punch when several 1-A and 1-B students jump in the way to take the hits and block several attacks. Tailman says he's already on his last legs and to save his strength, and Sugarman adds that only his strength will be able to deal with him, so he has to let them tank the hits. Froppy and Tentacole proceed to grab ahold of Deku and tell him the rest of them aren't agile enough to weave past the brutal attacks, but they can still help carry him partway there, and thrust him forward, with Deku thanking them. At the same time in the Evacuation Center, Froppy's family are watching the battle, with her siblings shouting for her to "do [his] best". The girl who Tentacole saved as a kid is also watching and says "you can do it". A large structure is about to crush Deku, but Red Riot, Pinky, and Fat Gum rush in and push it away, just as Red Riot and Pinky's middle school classmates recognize them. They tell Deku he's got it and to get it done, with Deku gratefully responding that he will.

"All For One" wonders why all the "carcasses" refuse to lie down and die, as the screaming memory of Tomura begins to resurface. He remarks how there's little life in their weary movements, yet their eyes still show persistence. He then recalls back to when he mocked Deku in the vestige world, saying how he always finds himself helplessly watching, and that giving the power of One For All to him was a mistake. This is when he finally realizes that it is because of Deku, and that it is his weakness, something All Might lacked; a weak, feeble strength that spurs everyone on to stand up so doggedly, and it will not perish for as long as he keeps moving forward. "All For One" holds his hand out to launch an attack as the hole in his hand begins to leak blood, only to sense his body starting to crack.

As Deku continues his rush forward, Gentle and Death Arms each shout for him to "do your best", with Gentle providing an air trampoline for him; in Gunga, a recovering Tsukuyomi also says "do your best". On the outskirts of the battle, Ethan Drive and the American soldiers find All Might and Edgeshot, saying they thought their ejector seats were disabled, believing that their surviving the destruction of their planes was his doing. All Might says the kids are hoping for an absolute victory, so he'd rather keep their losses to a minimum, which Ethan says is rich coming from him. All Might then thinks about how on that day, when Deku rushed out and allowed his body to take action, ever since that day, he has been his greatest hero, putting his bulked fist up one last time.

At the battlefield, Ingenium appears to grab ahold of Deku and continues pushing him forward, reminding him on their first day at U.A. when they left school, telling him he now understands so clearly what she meant. In the helicopter, Pixie-Bob tells Uravity they're almost at the hospital and to hold on a little longer, as she begins to wake up and remembers when she first told Deku how the name screams "do your best", managing to say it out loud. Melissa and Rody, also watching the broadcast, say to "do your best". The President of the United States shouts at an aide to send all of their Heroes to Japan, not even caring if it may put their country in jeopardy. Deku thinks about how he can hear everyone calling to him, as many Heroes and civilians alike all shout to "do your best", concluding with Inko shouting the same thing to her son, as Deku manages to reach "All For One", smashing him straight in the chest.
